4. S Bradley McDougald
McDougald has graded inconsistently over his past few seasons of play, with games all over the map from impressive, to average, to disappointing. He has missed double-digit tackles in each of the past three seasons, but he has also successfully completed at least 75 solo tackles in each of the past two. In coverage he has multiple interceptions in each of the past two years of play and notched 13 career pass breakups, and saw his time split between multiple different spots for the Bucs this past season. McDougald played over 1,000 defensive snaps, and was used extensively in the box, deep off the line and even in the slot.

As an Ohio State fan, I remember him.

4 star wide receiver in the 2009 class. He committed to OSU and wanted to play receiver there, but the OSU staff wanted to move him to DB.

As a result, he backed out and went to Kansas. Ironically, he ended up at safety there within a year and it's now his NFL position. A position that he's about to get PAID at. Should've listened back then, I suppose.

I'm all for bringing him on board at a reasonable deal. We need an actual NFL starting-caliber safety on this roster in the worst way. By all accounts, he's a high character guy.

Edit: While doing a quick fact search to double check myself, I came across the reason why his name was so familiar as a decommit. His older brother Brandon had osteosarcoma when they were both kids and had to have his leg amputated. The two are extremely close, and his brother basically lived his athletic career along side Bradley as they grew up. This is part of the reason why the decommitment from OSU stood out--a lot of his family really took that hard initially based on the fact he wasn't going to play locally.

Perhaps, based on this, the Browns may have an advantage here being local--more-so than with any other player.

Bradley McDougald may have the slight advantage over T.J. McDonald for the Browns FA safety addition for the simple fact he isn't facing a two-game (or more) suspension from the league for a reckless driving involving drugs or alcohol arrest.

With the contract Jonathan Hankins is going to likely sign in NY, I'd certainly look into bringing him into the fold on a 2-3 year deal.

It seems his college negatives (takes some plays off, often needed injury TO's cause he was gassed) have followed him to this contract.

Bottom line is he has been very productive in NY. The league, in general, is concerned on this contract he will balloon in weight and become unproductive.

I don't know.....this is the type of guy I'd consider overpaying on a 2-3 year deal and see if he can "prove it".

Interesting, seems a little old for us (30+) but definitely fits the high SPARQ score.

I am wondering where Jay Cutler is going to end up here soon. There is not a lot of teams where he could even try to start. I don't like the guy, but if he is willing to take a one year contract with a very low price would you sign him?

No. Hell no.

I have thought about this. The issue is he is not a good locker room guy per the rumors. Not sure I want to bring him in to blow up our rebuild by being an asshole.

But I do think he can be a top 20 QB which is good enough for now until we figure out the qb situation.

"Slim to none. And slim just left the building".

Jay wouldn't want to come here anyway.
