2017 Game #1 | #2 Ohio State @ Indiana | August 31st, 2017 @ 8 PM EST

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
So essentially he needs some good wins to get his name out. He is a big guy at 6'6 240, I never got to watch him last season.

Lagow might be drafted late, but IMO Simmie Cobbs looks like a top-40 pick. Great size, hands and body control; he's getting two feet down on a lot of his difficult sideline catches.

If you had Ohio State winning +20 tonight, you are looking pretty good.

Thought the play calling was a bit vanilla on 1st down. I was getting tired of the run up the gut calls when Dobbins looked so dynamic in the open field. (Weber and Dobbins - this excites me)

I was also annoyed with that 4th down JT up the gut call. Everyone knew that was coming. Perhaps Wilson was keeping it close to the vest on his first outing but we can't afford to be predictable next week.

JT had a couple misfires but his one long ball of the night was perfectly thrown. Campbell just dropped it. He would've had close to 400 yards passing if he hadn't. A very quiet 300 yard, 4 total TD game against an underrated passing defense has me excited as well. JT's poise was also on display in the 2nd half.

Key Takeaways:
  • Our D-line depth is stupid. We have 3rd string guys still making plays all over the field. I had a feeling Indy's O-line would wear down...took a little longer than i thought it would but when it happened, it was like watching a different game.
  • Secondary looked....inexperienced. I didn't think the overall coverage was bad, they just seemed to be reacting to the where the ball went vs. trying to make plays. Coverage was a little soft and we also gave up a lot of 50-50 balls but Indy's WR's were very physical AND big. Cobbs Jr. is definitely going to be playing on Sundays.
  • JK Dobbins is going to be hard to keep off the field. Woah nellie. He seemed to have all the moves; cuts, spins and that ELITE second gear in the open field that Zeke had. Him and Weber (and McCall!?) That is a tough load for teams to handle. This RB committee could be scary good. Best in the country good.
  • Johnnie Dixon looked the part finally. I've been rooting for this kid to get healthy since he committed. Who else in Zone 6 is going to look the part this season? We need to find out quickly.
  • Only 5 penalties on the road. Not bad, not bad, especially compared to last year. I don't even remember a holding penalty being called on us once.

Was shocked that McCall couldn't even see the field last night. Is he still tiny?

I hope Dobbins continues to start.

I thought Antonio Williams looked good in his limited carries as well. Guy runs hard.

Yeah was a little perplexed by that myself. It seemed Campbell got the bulk of the H-back duties. I don't care if he's tiny! Everytime he touched the ball last year something good happened.

I am going to be optimistic and believe that we didn't want to show to much, how should we say, offensive ingenuity, before Oklahoma comes to town. The typical Urban spread action -- screens, reverses, fake JT runs were glaringly omitted from the game plan.

Even though I think Dobbins is better right now, I do hope we find a way to get Weber 10 carries a game. I think he's a great compliment to Dobbins, and definitely they can get creative and have both on the field at times. Last year, the short side sweep out of split backs with Weber leading for Samuel was a deadly play. They tried it last night with Dobbins leading for Hill and it failed. Having Weber lead for Dobbins could be as effective as it was last year.

DLine was as advertised. Credit Indy with having Lagow get rid of it quickly on a lot of plays. But when he didn't/couldn't he was either sacked or hurried. Chase Young looks the part, and would be getting major snaps if we weren't so deep. Tackles were good, too.

I actually thought the secondary played well. Credit Lagow for some really good throws and Cobbs for some great plays. OSU was a little late to adjust. When the only play that is working against you is a fade, get out of man and go cover 2, especially when you can get pressure without blitzing.

Who knows what to expect out of the passing game. It was ass in the 1st half and great in the second half, even with a dropped 40 yard TD. I don't feel confident, but I also see signs of improvement.
