I would gladly take Clev in the rotation. Put Tomlin in long relief

That may be coming, but I think Francona is going to give Tomlin more time to see if he can straighten it out. But I agree -- Clevenger may be the better long-term guy. Especially given his age and Tomlin's contrast.

Michael Martinez was DFA'd. Any chance they pick him back up?

He did nibble after that homerun -- I think he got a bit gun shy.

But it was more than that -- the pitches on the hit batters clearly got away from him. It also looked like he had a lot of late movement on all his pitches -- more than usual. Maybe it was his grip due to sweat or something.

It was still kind of fun to watch. He was clearly getting pissed, but he never his focus and kept fighting.

Only pitch that really "got away from him" was the one to Gentry, and I think that had a lot to do with him squaring early to bunt. Tejada HBP just clipped his pants, wasn't really too absurd, and the target was set inside off the plate already, if I am remembering correctly...talking about an inch/2 inch margin for error, which isn't much when you generate a lot of movement with your fastball (unless you're Greg Maddux).

And it was fun to watch. Last year, that's a start where he doesn't make it out of the 2nd with bases loaded and no one out. Always nice to see young arms with power stuff realize they can let batters put the ball in play at the MLB level, cause it usually leads to good things.

What do you think his chances are of ending up in the rotation by the end of the season? Tomlin and Salazar both are a bit questionable at this point.

During this stretch the Indians faced some really below averaging starting pitching. There are some extreme ERA's in there. But nonetheless the tribe took complete advantage like a good team would.

Hard to say. But we should find out when Danny comes off the DL, which is still a few weeks away...stuff should work itself out by then, just don't know which way...

But me personally, I was hoping he was in the rotation to start the year. He has earned a spot up until this point, and will have to keep it up while Danny is out to keep his spot, cause Tito's leash on Tomlin is a mile long, and I don't think they put Danny in the pen just yet.

Tomlin honestly is not a bad pitcher at all and hasn't been as bad as some of his numbers say, but he is signed for 3 mil next season and part of me says he will be moved to the bullpen then. For this season I think as long as Tomlin is healthy, he will be our 5th starter. Next season is when the rotation at the back end could change.

I actually kind of wanted to trade Salazar before the season started since something about him didn't feel right to me when he was on the mound. I think for now we will use who we currently have and when the playoffs start, Francona will use his hottest hands as the starters, whether or not Tomlin and Salazar are part of it will be a question mark until then.
