Mejia OPS at Akron is 1.194. Granted it's only 6 games, but I'm officially starting his MLB countdown. I say he'll be up by the All Star break at this rate.

He's a young 21, still not great behind the plate. I'm willing to bet, barring injury, he's not up until September call-ups at the absolute earliest. He probably won't be up at all this year.

This team is built around pitching and defense. You can't risk having an unknown like him behind the plate--and that's not even considering the whole starting his service clock thing.

I got to finally watch the game on replay (MLB.tv) from what I saw is the fact they started to hit the ball a lot better towards the end of the game and I am hoping it translate into the next few games since they did finish a lot stronger than there numbers show. Also they have been getting 9-10 chances with runners in scoring position in the last two series outside of one game.

Also Gomes can hit a pitch, as long as opposing pitchers throw at his ankles, that was a weird HR since he seemed to put a protecting swing and he hit it out. I think he is trying to prove he was the guy he was a few years ago, rather than just let his body do the work for him. Gomes, EE and some other guys are all pressing for hits, while Diaz and Almonte are just letting themselves swing. I am hoping even though they lost the game, they were able to start swinging the bats free and easy rather than pressing for the hits. Diaz and Almonte are number 3 and 4 on the team in runs. I think Diaz by the numbers could be leading off while Santana is at 6. Sounds utter strange, but I wouldn't be opposed to it.

Gomes has been "pressing" for 2 years. This is who he is. He strikes out a lot, struggles to get on base, and occasionally he can run into a pitch and send it back 12 rows.

I see no reason to move Santana out of the lead off spot, that'd be an overreaction.

Tomlin's issue is he throws over the plate every single pitch for the most part. Sounds strange, but he has to throw more balls/setup pitches outside of the strike zone. The dude doesn't seem to understand it's okay to throw a ball it seems.

He's trying to find what he did a couple seasons ago and forcing it, by changing his swing and other stuff. I see he is taking pitches so far a lot better than he has been and he's gotta let himself just swing. His HR was on a defensive swing. You can tell it was since he didn't even mean to hit the ball out of the park if you watch his expression, he just meant to foul it off. I would almost advise him to take every single pitch the other way for right now and stay on the ball with a shorter swing, but that's just me.

I know they won't change the lineup before Kipnis gets back, but I'd like to see Diaz leading off just once or twice before he heads back to the minors.
