2017 Series #31 -|- Indians @ White Sox

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Too bad Shaw went 1-15 with runners on and only scored 1 run against a combined 6 ERA pitching staff this afternoon.

Should have never come to this, but this team can't hit with RISP again. But throw all the blame at Shaw.

Need a scapegoat even if it's completely misguided.

The best OBP% guys actually are almost always in the 3/4 hole if you look around baseball. Now the fact they get intentionally walked effects that as well. I actually like my two hole hitter to be the best control with his bat, in the sense can do all the small ball things, the sac fly, sac bunts/just moving over the runner if need be. I have always liked the combo in the 2003 Florida Marlins team of Juan Pierre leading off and Luis Castillo batting second.
I'm just telling you what I know to be true. Optimal lineup construction puts your best hitter in the 2 hole. Then, your best remaining OBP% guy should bat lead off.

There are a few wrinkles to consider, like if your best remaining OBP% guy is a big power threat, but those are some fairly safe generalizations to make in regards to lineup construction.
