2017 Series 34 | Rockies @ Indians

Nah, I like your positive input. It's educating most of the time, stats this, stats that.

It's fun being the type I choose to be on this section though. It brings conflict and disagreements, if we were watching together in a bar, I probably wouldn't be so negative. But I enjoy being able to rage in gamethreads, and laugh at others saying negative shit. I will always support the Indians, a team I love to hate.

Like the other day you were getting on to me about Kipnis and shit trying to spin some positive on him batting leadoff, but dude, he's swinging the bat like a little leaguer right now.

Well my positive outlook on the bullpen is they still have the 2nd lowest ERA in baseball. Joe Smith has been great and Tyler Olson has filled into Boone's role exceptionally well. Miller is obviously the key and the Indians need him healthy. Shaw I trust for the most part.

Cody is the one that honestly worries me the most as he really seems to struggle with control at times. However, when asked to come in for a save, he's done really well at that...until recently. His first 2 blown saves: in May to Cincinnati and a week ago to Boston were both very unlucky, I touched on both of those games the day after that Boston loss. Just saw that Lucroy highlight; if Zimmer field that ball cleanly, Cargo doesn't score on that play. I'm shifting a lot of the blame off Cody in all of these scenarios, maybe some of it is undeserved.

As far as Kipnis, I thought it was unfair to be bashing the guy for getting abused by Severino in his first game back since early July. And yeah, he's looked awful up there, but it is only a 3 game span. My main point there though was everyone wants to stick Zimmer up there just because they see him as a prototypical leadoff guy because he's fast. Hopefully that's what he can be for us down the line, but this year he's thrived hitting at the bottom of the order and struggled at the top. Kipnis on the other hand, even with his recent struggles, is slashing .258 / .331 / .828 while batting #1, which is pretty damn good

Kipnis worries me--I honestly think we're a better team with Jose at 2B and Urshela at 3B right now.

That is a stronger defensive unit in my mind at the end of the day thats why. Also I have never liked Kipnis, especially against lefties, up in the lineup. He can steal bases, but he doesn't walk a lot, but then again like most of the team, he hasn't been good with runners in scoring position. I think we should have let him rehab longer/get more ABs in the minors this season before we activated him.
