Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Ugh...so who goes once Brantley and Chis come back...any chance McCallister is a casualty?

Zero chance we DFA a guy as good as McAllister

I can't get behind calling him good.

Maybe average, or something considered below good.

But when you need a out, he's not a guy that comes to mind to go get that out.

.... I thought he was kidding

McAllister hasn't been as strong his last few appearances, but at the same time, he isn't a late inning guy for us, and the fact he has 39 appearances with 50.1 innings and an ERA of 2.50 (FIP is 3.79 so he has been a little lucky). His real problem is the fact he is giving up more HRs this season. 8 of his 14 Earned runs allowed were cause of the long ball. Outside of that his Hits per 9, BB per 9 and Strikeouts per 9 are better than last years numbers. I would take numbers like that as possibly my worst bullpen arm. Almost every team in baseball would take that type of numbers as there 6th inning type of guy.

2.97 ERA over 173 innings the last 3 years with 10.14 K/9

If that's not an effective reliever, I don't know what is

He'd be a set up man or even a closer on a lot of teams

I think too many people see the name Zach Mcallister and think back to his earlier years, without realizing how good he has been for us this year. It was a similar situation with Carrasco a few years back.

Time heals all wounds.

A lot has to happen, but given how the Astros have played since the ASG (16-19), I could see us catching them. Would be nice to have home field until the WS. Not that this team needs, it but it could be a nice bump in our direction.

This season alone, I peeped his game logs and alot of innings have come in blowouts. He's a star in garbage duty. We've saw him crumble in the crunch this August, especially when Miller went down. Stats doesn't always tell the whole story with players.

Like this one: Zach pitched 3 innings in the last postseason and gave up 4 hits followed by 3 runs. I'm not trusting that guy, I trust Shaw more than Zach.

As you should, Shaw is really good

Could possibly be already the greatest owner in sports ?

The Marlins will be a dynasty...

Gotcha. Would you do nothing for three straight days but have unprotected sex with Ramona Shelburne inside a moth-infested trailer park in Elyria if it meant you could be Jeter's personal assistant for the rest of your life?

Yes

Hate to bump an old series thread, but the Jay Bruce conversation was going on in here.

I was one of the guys saying that Bruce might not make the postseason roster. Based on his yearly regression in the second half, I expected him to be simply a replacement-level guy here. A great trade to make considering we gave up basically nothing, but once injuries healed, I thought he'd be on the bench (so did a lot of others).

So far, I've been dead fucking wrong. What a game changer he's been for us. Go Jay go!
