2017 Spring Training Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I swear on my life it's him. I've looked through dozens of photos to confirm.

If it was him, why did he get out of a 2003 Honda Civic then?

Still beautiful...even more so when its a returning front line starter pitching to him...and the Indians best prospect catching for him...

Also, in case you missed it.

Merritt is starting on Saturday in their first spring game. Clevinger and Miller will pitch as well.

They said Clevinger looks noticeably stronger, so I'm curious how he throws the ball/what they have him working on in game situations.

Merritt and Clevinger are guys to keep an eye on since they will likely get some spot starts/get some sot starts. They will start the season at AAA since I am pretty sure they will want them to start, but any injuries they will be up fairly quickly and I am betting with last years experience, they will be a lot better this season as well. Clevinger stronger could make him an extremely good pitcher since he was already throwing very hard. Hopefully it increases his stamina as well.

Probably OT, but does anyone have subscriptions to Baseball America or Baseball Prospectus? Is it worth it?

Now it may be irrelevant, but does anyone have film on Milner in spring training? I have not been able to find much information on him at all other than a video from last august when he was in the minors.

That is all I can find on the guy really and its only like a minute clip. Does anyone else have any information on him?

I know that he became pretty irrelevant once they signed Logan, so unless they buy him outright and pass him through waivers I'm not sure he's a guy worth caring about.

That said, the delivery is new, so as a baseball nerd I'm excited to see what kind of success he has in that chance to revitalize his career.

Well we shall see in spring, I mean we are supposed to be keeping another RHP, but you never know if he wins out the spring as the best guy then he could get the spot. He really is an unknown cause they changed mechanics mid-season and he did well, but he has no track record so we shall see what the Indians have found

According to Francona, the shoulder problems didn't come back last year each time until he was getting into game action. Same with Travis Hafner before him, he would start out fine then after the daily grind the pain would return.

Yeah, I know.

Any good news is just that...good news.

I have faith in the timeline.

No point of rushing him to be sincere. He is also a guy who may not need as many in game at bats as some other people as well since he knows what he is doing. I want him healthy and that's that. I have faith he will play and be productive.

Hafner could never make the adjustments after the injury to be a productive player. Brantley has always hit to all fields and contact was more important than power. His ability to make needed adjustments has always been his strength. So even if he never gets back to 100% I expect his ability to adjust to be his saving grace. He could end up turning into our leadoff guy rather than our 3/5 hole guy though.

I am watching the Phillies and yankees spring training game and the yankees are going to have a very good ball club in a few seasons. I don't expect them to make the playoffs this season, but around 2018-2019 they will be very good. 2017 is the year the Indians have to win it since they will have the best ball club in all of baseball. The upside of the Yankees and the fact we are the best bet to beat Boston, this is our year!

Phillies also had a RH hitter that hit 38 HRs and a left handed hitter who hit 40 HRs in their minors, possibly their future 4/5 guys in the lineup.

Three O'Clock people!!!!!!! First Indians game of the Spring!

Yan changed his batting stance again...every year with us he has had a different stance.

And he gets plunked as well. He doesn't have much luck lol Well Robertson has had a nice little game so far for us. I don't expect him to make the team, but if he keeps making the scrappy, hustle plays then you never know what Francona will do with him.
