2017 Trade Deadline

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Lefty smasher Guyer is hitting .205 against lefties this year. Have to keep him on the roster over the team leader in HR's.

.780 OPS in the second half thus far.

He's got a spot.

Full-time lineup until Lonnie/Brantley return?

Kipnis
Lindor
Ramirez
Edwin
Bruce
Santana
Jackson
Zimmer
Gomes

Now if we could just get Kipnis out of the way...

You add Lonnie or Brantley to this lineup in place of Jackson and push Kipnis down, you have no excuse to produce a ton of runs.

Slashing .259 / .388 / .758 since coming back at the end of June. Not sure his splits vs LHP but he's playing fine.

ALDS is also a 5 game series rather than a 7 game series. Francona I doubt will ever go down to a 11 man bullpen for a 7 games series hence why Ryan Merritt was added to the roster for the ALCS. If we go down to 11 pitchers, that means Olson is off the roster, so we won't have a second lefty at any time in the playoffs and its either Goody or Otero who will also be left off as well. McAllister has actually had a good season overall. Otero got the innings since he had a lot better year.

I am not saying that it is not possible, but there is not a good probability of keeping all 6 OFs for the playoffs on the roster. Also if Bruce comes over and stinks up the place then yeah we aren't forced to keep him on the roster.

They only chose to go with Merritt because of Bauer's drone incident. They were originally gonna go with Joe Colon, meaning they were fine carrying only 1 lefty.

It would make no sense for them to leave Jay Bruce off the postseason roster, even if he's struggling, to add an 8th bullpen guy, especially if the rotation is healthy.

Merritt was actually added before Bauer tore up his finger. He replaced Gimenez, who was on the ALDS roster, and I think his original use was to eat up innings in games that were out of hand on either side to keep the bullpen as fresh as possible.

If all 6 of our starers are healthy, I think Tito definitely goes with 11 pitchers. Last year it was bring an extra pitcher to a rotation with only 3 healthy or bring up Erik Gonzalez who had like 20 at bats last year or a 3rd catcher in Gimenez; it was really a no brainer. This year that potential 14th position player is much more impactful.

Merritt was a late addition to the Tribe's ALCS roster before the series started Friday. The Indians were originally going to go with right-hander Joe Colon, but when Bauer suffered a 10-stick cut on the little finger of his pitching hand while working on a drone Thursday night, they decided to go with Merritt.

"When Trevor had his drone accident, we decided we'd better make sure we had some length," said Francona.

Ah, you're right. Was thinking Bauer suffered his injury after Game 1

Nope.

Second or third rounder depending on market size of Bruce's next team.

What do you mean 'market size of Bruce's next team' and '2nd or 3rd rounder'?

That has nothing to do with draft pick compensation

Okay, Ed.

Tell me more about draft pick compensation in 2018.
