I didn't pay any attention to pre-season but Andre Drummond shot three 3's tonight. What?

Didn't see the other 2, but the last one he had to chuck up at the end of the shot clock.

Yeah, he's been jacking them all throughout preseason. I'm not sure he hit one in the preseason but he was taking 2-3 a game. And they weren't desperation shots.

It's weird, but today's NBA :conf (11):

Ayton is so skilled, man. Looks so natural on an NBA floorq0

Pelicans big man rotation is elite. Mrotic, Davis, and Randile are all pretty great players. Randile will feast on other teams bench bigs.

They peaked last year. Warriors take them in 5 this year

I was the Rockets numbwr 1 guy last year and I said exactly this in the off-season. They had a 1 year window due to age.

Paul, Tucker and if they had kept him, Ariza, are old. That was their shot. Paul and Tucker wont be as good. Carmel is old too.

New Orleans and Uath will give GS the most first in the West.

But Boston is the only team that can beat them (and I think will).

Well I looked at the preseason and he was taking 2 to 3 a night.

FT shooting appears to be going up? Maybe it'll work?

Right? Why werr people saying they were afraid to pick him?

Yea, defense is an issue. Its ALWAYS an issue for rookies.

But you can clearly see the physical skill and crazy athletic talent.

Meanwhile, guys drafted high who were supposed to be defensive wizards like Josh Jackson and Andrew Wiggins can't stay infront of a cinder block.

Draft guys who look smooth when they have the ball. That's like my biggest thing. Do you look torally natural or does it appear like basketball comes hard for you?

Man, two of the three point guards in this draft were actual true point guards... kind of depressing.

G-alexander nice numbers for debut game

I’m really, really surprised the Sixers learned nothing from their series against Boston last year.

In the playoffs, the Celtics ENCOURAGED Embiid to go one on one in the post and didn’t double him at all. He had a whopping 10 post possessions per game and produced .81 PPP which is total dogshit. The opportunity cost of those possessions (threes created by Simmons) was a big reason they lost. I can’t isolate the last three games for Embiid on NBA.com, but in them, he was probably at .6 or .65 PPP.

Their best run came when Simmons was looking for shooters every possession. They can play “5 out” with Embiid since he can shoot, but they don’t. 80% of Embiid’s Value is on defense and on that end alone he’s an all-NBA player.

Embiid had 10 post possessions in the opener and produced .50 PPP, which is horrific. Maybe they’re not showing their hand, but painful to see since I hate Boston and don’t ever want them to win anything in any sport.

I also learned from Ben Simmons that you can't really evaluate a college player's defense and effort level accurately, specially in badly coached teams. Some of these guys just don't give a damn about playing for free and can't wait to get to the league.

Also, Mo Bamba is gonna be insane huh? That one hurts, I was hoping we'd try to trade up when he started falling until the moment Orlando got him.

These past two draft classes are insanely deep. Look at last year you’ve probably got 2 guys in the lottery who didn’t look like 10 year starters their rookie year (Fultz and Kennard, although you can make an argument for Josh Jackson) plus guys like Kuz, Josh hart, John Collins outside the lottery. This year looks equally deep. Fun to watch good young players

Kawhi doesn't look like himself. I thought he was bad. IF we didn't switch he would have struggled mightily against Cedi. His boxscore looks solid, but the impact wasn't there.

Personally, my issue with Ayton is that I don't know how effective he can be as a floor spacer and I question whether he will ever be able to have the defensive versatility needed of a championship caliber big man. There were also substantial talk about his mentality not being the greatest, though I think that's probably a bit too nebulous at this point to make a judgment call on either way. To sum it all up I don't doubt for a second that he will be able to produce like an all star, but I still seriously question whether he will ever be the type of guy you can expect to meaningfully contribute at a championship level.

He's an incredible athlete, best in the draft bar none, and he moves with an effortlessness that is amazing to behold. I just wonder if that will ever translate into actual tangible success at the highest level.
