The difference for me between giving up Danny Green and Joe Harris was we gave up on Green when we had an all time horrible roster. Looking at that roster we should have prioritized Green over at least half the roster. Some how Grant must have thought the league was trending towards all PFs with how many he brought in.

We should have kept Harris over McRae and Sasha Kaun for sure. I don't think they give up on him if he didn't break his leg.

But Green was actually bad. He was even cut by the Spurs. I mean, he was about to be out of the league. I can't really fault the Cavs that much for him.

Harris was a young player seeing inconsistent playing time. We punted on him. Which was dumb.

Why give up on a young player? I don't care what kind of team you have. Another reason I couldn't stand Griffin.

He had no vision for what we should be going forward. Only saw now, which again, is a large reason we're in the position we are in, thanks to him.

He was a terrible GM. I don't care what anyone says. When you have a GM that only builds for the short-term, and has no consideration or plan for the long-term. That GM sucks.

Imagine what we could have been if he prioritized drafting a little better and developing young players to go along with LeBron?

Because you can't just live on trades and quick fix band aids. Especially when you're capped out and have very little ways to get better.

And the fact they gave up Joe over McRae is more disturbing. McRae was garbage.

Dunk contest was ass outside of Diallo.

It wasn't even that good. Sure, the elbow thing was cool. But damn, they hype it up.

I miss the days where guys just fucking dunked. These props are garbage.

Dunk contest should be canceled. Rather watch a game of horse, with creative shot making.

No one cares about dunking anymore. It's become a shooters game. So make a horse game, where guys like Kyrie and Steph compete. That would be entertaining to me.

The three point contest was dope. So extend it, and make it another shooting contest.

Dunking is so 1990s... It's overdone and not that great anymore.

After the Aaron Gordon vs Zack Lavine dunk contest two years ago, told my son they should just stop right there and end on a good note. Everything after that would be disappointing.

Dr J won the first contest in 1976 - ABA.

The first NBA contest was won in 1984 by Larry Nance Sr.

After 35 years it's past the sell-by date.

"The Coming Peace and Prosperity of Zion" ...will save the 2020 dunk contest.

I think they gave up on both Green and Harris way too quick. Joe Harris actually got more playing time than Danny Green got. Both looked bad, Joe Harris did also get cut by the Magic after we traded him away. Almost all players will look bad in preseason and starting out until you can give them 20+ minutes a game for a decent stretch and they can actually have the game slow down for them.

With both players the Cavs needed to just trust their initial scouting and see what they had. Joe Harris only played 508 minutes of the regular season for the Cavs and Green only played 115 minutes. Most of which was garbage time for both.

I remember because of injuries, we were forced to play Joe early on his rookie season. And he really didn't look that bad. Even LeBron called him cool Joe.

Personally, I liked Joe. I saw the talent and upside. I didn't really see much in Danny Green to be honest. He looked pretty bad as a Cav.

But still, it speaks volumes to the organization. They don't really show any interest in developing young players when they're trying to win. Hell, we're reluctant to do it even when we're bad! It took Zizic forever to see the court.

Seems we're only willing to play lottery picks.

Which makes no sense. You should always be trying to develop players you draft.

Griffin did a good job selecting him. He was the right guy to draft with LeBron coming back. Then he gives up on him too fast.

All those first round picks Griffin handed away, like they were nothing. These picks aren't nothing.

I really wish we kept Grant instead of Griffin.

Grant valued assets, Griffin threw them away like they meant nothing.

Griffin to me has been hands down the worst GM in the Gilbert era.

It was Jared Cunningham whose contract was guaranteed around the same time Harris,
who was injured, was traded to Orlando to create a roster spot & luxury tax savings ahead of the trade deadline. Harris was cut by Orlando and had foot surgery. Cunningham was subsequently traded in the deal to acquire Channing Frye. McRae and Jones were both signed later after the deadline.

Definite loss by the Cavs; a victim of the win-now, King James 1-year contract period. The Nets roster needs a power forward bad; maybe Cavs can pawn off Love on them and bring back Harris in the deal, who is an UFA after 19-20 season.

Its a damn shame Anthony Davis faked an injury a few days ago now he's playing in the star game

This is what I remember in 2014-15 as well. It's been a while but I remember that Joe showed 1) clear shooting ability, the kind that's hard to teach, and 2) the physical strength to match up with multiple positions even if he was far from the defender he has become now. But he clearly needed to be developed, and we didn't have the patience to do it.

That is partially on David Blatt though. Blatt gave more minutes to Shawn Marion, Mike Miller, and James Jones, all of whom turned out to be completely useless in the playoffs, than he did to developing Harris. I realize there must have been a lot of organizational pressure regarding those vets, and it was a very weird year. But still.

Like D'Angelo I'm glad Joe Harris was able to develop the way he has. Would have been happier if Joe stayed a Cav... last season may not have been a disaster

If I'm the Pelicans owner, I'm not trading Davis just out of spite. I'd probably be a terrible owner.
