2018-2019 Tank Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I dont want him back. Not even for a symbolic retirement. At this point he will be remembered as being a Cav as much as KAJ for being a Buck.

I don't want him to come back because when he's a crippled old man, him dominating the ball would make the team worse rather than better. He wants to be in L.A., let him stay there.

What? No. Our veterans are trash anyways. In a situation where LeBron did come back, the veteran signings will follow, just as they have everywhere he's gone.

Cavs should fully embrace a youth movement. I cannot wait for the trash heap of Hill, Hood, Tristan, Clarkson, Dekker, etc to be the fuck off this team.
This is the most asinine thing I’ve read in the history of being on these boards.

You do not plan and count on trying to get back a 37 year-old LeBron James. How hopelessly desperate are you? Good God, man, look at yourself in the mirror. I’m trying to help you.

LeBron had every opportunity to be here right now and walked.

We are going to rebuild. We are going to do what’s best for us.

At this point, I don’t know that we would even stoop to taking him back. However, if we did, it’d be more symbolic than anything and we’d cross that bridge when we come to it.

Yikes, tough crowd!

I said "the chance at" one more LeComeback.

Nowhere did I say that we would "plan and count on" a player who is highly unlikely to be "a crippled old man," and is more likely to be close to the best UFA available in the coming years, or at least the best attainable to Cleveland UFA available.

We absolutely would "cross that bridge when we come to it," and to build off the previous sentence, I meant it more in the sense of making whatever best FA move was available to us.

Even if a leopard largely doesn't change his spots, LeBron could largely move away from wanting legitimately "crippled old men" as his FA sidekicks, and also largely move away from ball-dominance. And nowhere did I say "Hill, Hood, Tristan, Clarkson, Dekker" would be part of this team's future.

I don't see how my comment warrants dunking on me.

I wasn't dunking on you. I never even saw your original post.

That's fine. I was just addressing your comment because it was a response to one of the responses, that was relevant to the original.

I just think it's unlikely, albeit still possible, that LeBron will be a "crippled old man" at age 37.

It's halftime of Game 2 and this thread is already long overdue...it's like we all forgot who is coaching our team. Join the mission to keep our pick! We need tank god back. And maybe @The Wizard of Moz can replicate his old Browns tank updates for the Cavs.

Start looking at those mock drafts, folks. There's a few guys to be pretty excited about. Hopefully one can be our savior.

Let's ride!

I’m mad at the Cavs because I really think they’re going to flirt HARD with that idiotic place in the standings where we don’t make the playoffs but finish outside of the top 10 meaning it was literally the worst possible outcome

If the Cavs get their heads out of their asses and actually tank then I’ll be all over the updates. But it’s hard to get invested when I watched what happened with the Nets last year where if you’re willing to even try during the regular season you’re already better than like 7 or 8 teams that are actively trying to lose. The second half of the year if you’re not trying to lose you’re gonna get your wins against the meme teams of the world. We have to be one of those meme teams

I’m all in on the tank, but I think Dan is too short sighted to ever think more than 7 minutes ahead of time so I really think we will lose our pick and miss the playoffs (as if being the 8 seed would be some great feat lol)

disgusting. product of weak minded fans who just cant handle the disappointment of rooting for their teams when wins aren't sure things.

cause tanking went so well for us....

Celtics, Pacers, Raptors none of those teams tanked

Bottom 3 teams had a 60 % chance to get the number 1 pick. They now have a 42%

Celtics had the luxury of capitalizing on some of the dumbest trades in league history. IMO their rebuild looked like complete mediocrity until Brown came aboard & we gifted them Kyrie.

Dude get out of the tank thread if you're just gonna tell everyone they're disgusting for wanting to tank.

Don't be that guy.

Raptors were AWFUL for years and continued to suck until they paired a 9th pick (DeRozen) with JV (5th pick) and Lowry (traded late lotto). They then flipped DeRozen and Poeltl (9th pick) for Kawhi. Credit to them for making great picks in the twenties (Siakam, OG) and 2nd round (Fred). Their rotation was compromised almost entirely of players they drafted last year.

too early to think tank but geez if we get a guy that is an explosive scorer who can hit outside shots consistently (RJ Barrett?) to play with Cedi and Sexton it will go a long way to building a team that can compete.

Providing 3 examples of anecdotal evidence for why we shouldn't tank without mentioning the 76ers is laughable

Save the rah rah bullshit. You want to compete in this league where best buddies team up in free agency to create Golden States and Houstons? You need to hit on several draft picks. Where is it more likely to hit on draft picks, when you pick earlier or later? These aren't hard concepts

But yes, lets go out there and grab that 8 seed so we lose our pick and get swept by the Celtics. Nothing screams long term success more than that plan!!!

NBA will always be about star players so tanking in that sense is attractive.

There is no perfect formula though. Would Irving, Wiggins, Dion be a big 3? Throw in the misses on TT(4th pick over Kawhi and Klay) and Bennett (good god) and tanking isn't a perfect science.

Ideally you get some good players and also high picks. I think the Cavs are trying to do this with locking up Love and then having Cedi and Sexton develop.

There is just no clear way.

1) Warriors- Drafted amazingly well with Steph at 7 and Klay at 11 and Draymond at 33 or whatever. KD bullshit aside... they drafted a great team that fit perfectly even without KD.

2) Celtics- Destroyed the Nets with horrible trades and then were able to simultaneously add stars via trade and FA while drafting them.

3) 76ers tanked for years.

4) Raptors-drafted ok, made some trades, then pounced on a top 3 player in the league-look like the team to beat in the East early on.

5) Rockets-traded for Harden, traded for Paul. Big spenders.

Dude get out of the tank thread if you're just gonna tell everyone they're disgusting for wanting to tank.

it didn't stay in the tank thread the last time. so why would it this time.
