2018-2019 Tank Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Who wants to bet that assuming love doesn’t come back his season we won’t win another game?

I keep having to tell people in the Cavs instagram feed that just because the team that ends with the worst record this year doesn't mean they have the best odds for the #1 overall. No one has any idea. Best comment i got was, "there's a lottery but cavs get a lottery pick if they're bad." So, not the brightest bunch in there. Also, they're all probably like 12 so there's that . . .

With how bad this team looks right now though, #1 odds even if it's the same as #2 or #3 has to be the goal. Getting at worse the #5 pick should give us a good building block. You never know where tier 1 or tier 2 players really end in the draft. There could be two tier 1 players and 3 or 4 tier 2 players. Ending up with the #7 pick because we were fine with the #3 odds then we might end up with just a high level role player vs an impact player.

That's interesting because I spent sometime last week using the new lottery simulator and no matter how many times I did it the 4 and 5 got the first pick more often then the worst team. In fact the 4 and 5 got the 2 and 3 spot more often then the #1

Not sure why but my best guess is that #1 there is no where to go but stay the same or drop. In the 4 and 5 spot you could go either way. With the odds being so close someone from those spots are bound to steal a better position. Just my 2 cents

In their defense, it does seem like we typically fall ass backwards in to the lottery and just win it, regardless of the odds.

For someone who doesn't closely follow, it would have to be really confusing if someone explained to them how unlikely it is to win, given the number of times we have won it.

NBA Draft Lottery is dumb.

It absolutely is. It doesn't do what it ever pretended to accomplish and the rule changes definitely don't help.

Only reason I want this tank (besides possibly a top 3 pick) is because the Cavs absolutely need to get as much of their assets back. No way ATL should get this pick. that's why I can't listen to the "screw the tank, win the games" crowd THIS season. maybe after this one.

All it did is make very rich, stubborn, gambling-type people into even bigger gamblers and our owner owns fucking casinos.

Pretty sure we don't have to worry about those picks going to ATL anymore. It's very obvious we're a bottom 3 (bottom 1?) team in the league.

Unwatchable basketball. Still can't believe wanted to think the rebuild was going to be "more fun" than Bron ball.

I think the point was, no pressure to win=more fun than watching Lebron's nasty stuff when he just mopes around all winter. I only had this team winning 22-23 games. I figured they would collapse at some point due to no coaching, Love is injury prone and just the cobbled roster. This is no surprise.
