2018-2019 Tank Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I got to see Ja Morant play last night. I was very impressed. He is just so "Smooth" he reminded me of Santana.

Plugging in 6'7" Barrett's 23 points per game at shooting guard would also help.

He gets shit for not passing, but Barret's passing would help too. I think Collin can work with a good passing starting group. The ball movement when Love has been in there makes me think it wouldn't be a big deal. Cedi is a pass first guy too.

It is obviously a focus for Collin to work on his passing. He has been looking better lately, but I do think he is going to get the bulk of his assists off the drive and kick or dump off in the pick and roll.

Here's the problem with the tank this year.
Even if we finish in the bottom 3, the chances of us getting pick number 1 are slim. Only Zion seems to be a real instant difference maker. A team with Love, Zion, and maybe a decent FA pickup would be a decent team from the get go.
Anybody else probably will need 3 years to develop into a good pro.
But, would you trade Love and pick number 3, for pick number 1? I'd be tempted.

I think if we don't get Zion or Barrett we should consider trading down.

The F.O has to find a reason to sit love for the rest of the season because with a healthy love we can easily end up at the 5-6th pick. especially with this upcoming stretch: PHX, MEM, NYK, DET, ORL, BKN, MIA

I watched Morant last night, exciting player, but he does not help the Cavs. I see him as closer to Kyrie..

We won't get past Atlanta even with Love, but I guess we could fall to 7 which would not be great.

He is putting up over 10 ast per contest. I don't see him as Kyrie but more Westbrook

Unreal quick, no look passes......and just so Smooth at BB. Phuck the Position, you gotta take the BPA.

Edit:NINE Years! And I'm thinking my PER is competent?

I mean, I'd be pretty happy if we drafted a player of Kyrie's caliber... :dunno:

maybe if the teams they are playing are tanking and cavs were not. But the cavs are even with a ltd minutes post injury Love, and so even playing Love in his return from injury is nothing close to what it would take to make a significant difference against good teams, well probably.
Cavs could be 5th at worst on draft day if they ended the season with the worst record since 4 instead of 3 teams can now leap-frog into the top spots. But that being said it is rare if more than 1 team outside the top 3 gets in there and so it will be rare if 1 team outside the top 4 gets in there.
I think if they are at 2 or 3 they could just as easily end up at 3 or 4 after the lottery just from 1 team moving past them.
They really should be tanking harder than they are down the stretch, but they won't intentionally sit players that are not hurt so what will be will be unfortunately.
being at 3rd in the standings really doesn't make much difference than at 1 before the drawing except how far the team can fall if more than 1 team leap frogs them. if the cavs have the 6th worst record they could theoretically lose the pick if 4 teams jump ahead of them, so i am sure they will not allow that to be remotely a possibility.

How'd that work out for us last time?

Kyrie is not enough, and niether was Chris Paul. You need an elite small forward, to combine with a small quick point guard..

You need a lot of things in today's NBA. But I'm for Barrett if Zion isn't there.

My obvious board would be Zion, Barrett, Morant. Those 3 all have superstar potential. I'm taking Morant regardless of Sexton.

I mean...I want a million fuckin dollars too but...?

Saying that drafting a superstar point guard "does not help the Cavs" is a little....disingenuous.
