Some notes: Albers, Almonte, Axford, Logan, Ursehla, and Valbuena are all trash as expected.

Jay Bruce has been awful and injury-riddled. Should've kept him over Brantley.

Old friends like Asdrubal, Choo, Santana, and Sabathia are still going strong more or less; Santana is having a down year in Philly. Victor is about to retire.

Shaw is having a brutal season in Rockie-land.

Pomeranz has been hurt and awful. Frazier hasn't played much in New York.

Jesus Aguliar is having a borderline MVP campaign in Milwaukee. He won't win, but he'll come top-5/6.

Smith is also finishing with a strong year as well. Urshela is back in the minors if I remember correctly with the Yankees now. Just how old is Sipp? lol

Joey Wendle (TBR), .291 BA, 7 HRs, 42 RBI, .759 OPS, 18 2B (Brandon Moss deal so not exactly an alumni)

He was having a solid season so i figured I would say something about him.

So far it looks like the Indians made the correct off season moves...

Aroldis Chapman left last night's game after 6 pitches with knee discomfort. MRI scan scheduled for today.

He's been dealing with this more most of the year but sounds like the pain was more severe for him last night.

I never root for any player to suffer injuries....except that scumbag. I hope he isn't able to sleep from the pain.

Yanks have also been preparing Justus Sheffield for a multi-inning role out of the pen down the stretch

As mediocre as the Indians have been playing lately, the Yankees have not fared any better. They are 7-9 in their last 16, lost a home series to the White Sox, tied a home series vs. the Tigers, and most recently lost a series @ Minnesota.

They now only lead the Athletics by 1 game in the Wild Card and the Athletics have a more favorable remaining schedule.

Wilbon also said last year that Altuve wasn't a Top 3 player on the Astros. Put Marwin Gonzalez above him

Ultimate "kids get off my lawn" guy

God man, Wilbon is the worst.

If anything, DeGrom is proving how worthless of a stat (in a vacuum), pitcher wins can be.

He has 26 straight starts of allowing 3 runs or fewer. If he were on even a competent offensive team, he'd have 20 wins.

1.71 ERA, 0.95 WHIP with 240 K's......it's laughable. His ERA is a half run better than the SECOND best pitcher in the NL.

If he doesn't win it, just get rid of the award.

Outside of the win-loss record, DeGrom is having a historical year in the modern era perspective. I mean since whats the 1970s how many pitchers can you say have even come close to the numbers and stats he has been putting up? Outside of maybe Maddux in 94/95 there has only been a handful of seasons so dominant at most.

I thought back in the year felix hernandez went 13-12 killed the notion of win/loss being a factor in the cy young vote. I know it's not the same as a losing record but with how much advanced stats have taken over the game we now know that pitchers can be dominate on a shitty team.

Especially one who has been as dominate as deGrom

*dominant. Thanks @Chris

The NL Central race could have a crazy finish with the Cardinals facing the Brewers and Cubs to close the season
