2018 Browns Free Agent Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
So with Zampese and Hue and unnamed coordinator...

Its going to be AJ McCarron as the vet QB, right?

It would look that way, but lets hope Dorsey is in control of the QB evaluation now instead of Hue.

Remember when we thought Hue could help us get Marvin Jones or Sanu?

What hue wants hue will get thanks to jimmy. Jimmy will force doresy to give hue his qb. Hopefully Dorsey has the same “forgetfulness” that sashi had.

I don't think you have Dorsey figured out very well. Dorsey is not Sashi.

The only way I wouldn’t hang myself is if he’s unrestricted.

I wouldn’t be happy, but I could live with that burden of idiocy.

If he’s restricted and we give our 2 for him, I’m going to lose my mind.

McCarron wouldn't be that bad as a bridge QB. He knows the system, and he has nice touch on his throws from the pocket. He doesn't do well escaping pressure and judging by his chest tattoo he makes some occasionally questionable decisions... okay, the tattoo doesn't matter that much. He won't freeze up processing a play from the pocket and has better mechanics than Kizer, he just isn't anything special as a physical specimen. I do wonder if he was for or against Zampese this past season.

McCarron, in a vacuum, is an okay guy to bring in as a bridge QB. In spite of him having no real measurable action thus far in his career, I guess he's somehow earned that designation.

But with options out there which have legitimate, successful starting experience in this league, he should be an afterthought.

What's the contractual approach in obtaining someone with more previous success though? To what kind of contract do you sign a Bradford? 3/80-90 with some kind of option?

If McCarron still has his gf/fiancé/wife, that should count in his favor, right?

My guess is a guy like McCarron, Bridgewater etc, will get a 3 year like 10-15 mil per season but only year one is guaranteed.

Guys like Bradford will get something similar with some guarantee into year two starting at like 20 mil a season type of thing.

Essentially they will get front loaded contracts with most of the guaranteed money in year one. Essentially like Glennon signed last season. Not sure of what the base will be but guys like McCarron, Bridgewater etc, may end up with that type of deal from the Browns.

For McCarron though, it will depend on his hearing in February. If he's an unrestricted free agent expect something like the deal there, if not, we will give him more money than the 2nd round tender, but within range of Cincinnati still deciding on keeping him aka like 7ish per season. Even if the first two seasons are guaranteed at that price, we aren't breaking the bank.

Tevin Coleman would be a nice add if we could pry him away from ATL.

He's probably available. They just gave Freeman that massive deal and there's no way they're going to pay Coleman too next spring.

That said, not sure acquiring a RB in a contract year is the right move for the Browns. I'd rather just draft a guy.
