2018 Browns Free Agent Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Todd Haley has had a front row seat to the dysfunction in Cleveland for a few years.

He ain't coming to Cleveland and the guy is a mess off-the-field.

Would be a disaster here.

If you're trying to get Hue to burn the house down, you have to supply him with a couple of matches.

Is it sad that I am also reading how this description can also be seen as a success here? Off field problems for a coach? Sure, come to Cleveland. Your wife gets in bar fights? She's gonna love W. 6th.

I think we can all agree we want one of the top free agent WRs. The question won't be the money, it is which one can we convince to play here and actually be legit? I mean our luck with signing free agent receivers hasn't been good for a long time.

Landry is a slot receiver and should be paid as such. He wants #1 receiver money. $14M per. He's not gonna get that and if he does good for him. I would be ok bringing him in but he's going to be working primarily in the slot which means Coleman and Gordon will be on the outside. I'd prefer to add another outside receiver over another slot guy. I think Higgins and Coleman can thrive in the slots with Gordon and another solid guy added on the outside.

He's probably available. They just gave Freeman that massive deal and there's no way they're going to pay Coleman too next spring.

That said, not sure acquiring a RB in a contract year is the right move for the Browns. I'd rather just draft a guy.

unless he can be had for a 5th or later, i would agree.

Well yeah, if you can get him for a nothing pick, that's a no-brainer. No reason for Atlanta to give him up for nothing, though. Still got a year on his deal and he's a productive, proven back and also insurance if Freeman gets hurt. If I were them, I'd probably draft a RB in the middle rounds this year to groom to be Coleman's replacement, but I'd keep Coleman this year and just let him walk next spring (barring him signing an under-market deal, obviously).

All that is guaranteed for Freeman is the signing-bonus (paid), his 2017 salary (paid), and $1 million of his 2018 salary. I don't find it unreasonable that Atlanta can have a revelation that makes them want to keep Coleman for the long-haul after next season. Let's not assume Coleman goes anywhere.

I mean, that's certainly possible, but I also think that Freeman is clearly better than Coleman. There's a reason Freeman is the lead back there. So unless Freeman falls off significantly or gets seriously hurt, it's hard for me to see them getting rid of him so long as he continues to be productive.

You can point to him being less productive this year, but Atlanta's entire offense was a total shitshow for the first half of the season, so I'm inclined to believe that's not on Freeman. He looked incredible toward the end of the season after coming back from that concussion.

Just gives you an idea of what we'd possibly be looking at if we were to get a Carlos Hyde. He'd obviously come in at a smaller price but it goes to show how we can easily add a good veteran RB and have it not break the bank. Hell even Le'Veon Bell at what he wants wouldn't break the bank for us.

Didn’t Bell say he won’t sign the tag? I know that’s usually all talk but I thought he said he’d sit out the year if tagged again
