2018 Browns Free Agent Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
LOL - its funny to compare the two communities. RCF has always felt more coherent and enjoyable to me. Better insiders and better community. Then again... if the Cavaliers sucked for 19 years and the Browns had an NFL version of 'Bron... maybe it'd be flipped.
I was on the OBR for years before I sought out a new place to talk Browns. I think RCF’s Browns board is significantly better than the OBR for Browns

On the OBR 1/3 members are spitting images of the statman. Then everyone turned on Sobo for getting a job and chastising One of the best members on the site as some sort of a sellout. That’s when I decided to find a new board. I think this place is significantly better

Oh and the constant rumors from posters that literally never came to fruition got old so quickly. Probably 100 threads from different people “in the know” over the years talking about how Saban is coming to the Browns

You're welcome.

Can't think about a more insufferable scenario. Imagine the shit-show if McCarron outplays Tyrod next season...
Only team that makes sense besides the Jets. Every other team seems to have a young QB that looks like a star, potential, or an already established vet QB.

Mccarron, albeit nothing special, is a good bridge QB. He lacks tape but he's seemingly got the iq to hold down the fort or at least, help tutelage a high pick from this upcoming draft. Bills seemed destined to jump into the top 6 and will need a vet to help bring that player up to par if not to at least not leave a rookie an 0-8 record before the youngun is thrown out there.

As far as mccarron outplaying Taylor? That would be a big kick in the nuts...... and "so browns"

No chance in hell McCarron outplays Taylor. Taylor is a known commodity who would have better weapons in cleveland.
actually in all fairness McCarron could outplay Taylor. If McCarron ends up on a team that has to play him, and whoever the browns draft at 1 comes in and lights the world on fire.... McCarron could out play Taylor, just because Taylor isnt playing

I had McCarron like a Chad Pennington at the end of the day when the draft was going on for that year. Smart QB, good short to mid accuracy but with issues throwing deep passes/cannot make all the deep throws. In the right system, he can play in the NFL. If he signs with the Bills then he could have a better season since they have a better team at the moment than the Browns (the cap space and draft assets though can make the Browns the better team).

First CB off the board.

How did he rate compared to Johnson (who I think will end up as the Browns CB cause of Williams, while the kid from the Packers ends up being tried at FS)

No way they have a better team than the Browns. Their offense is Shady and a bunch of guys who cannot separate. And they lost their best tackle, their best offensive lineman is aging and they lost their starting center.

McCarron would be slaughtered.

For me, the topic is a non-starter because McCarron wants to play somewhere that isn't picking a blue chip rookie QB #1 overall. The Browns shouldn't be changing their draft strategy to better entice McCarron. The best thing about Tyrod Taylor is that he didn't have options.

Bills can still move up in the draft after McCarron signs on the dotted line, but that's a lot different than McCarron using the #1 overall as a bargaining chip in free agency.
