2019 Browns Head Coach Candidates

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Goff, Wentz, Prescott, Watson and probably Trubisky

Goff was not available to them. He went No. 1 and they had pick No. 2.

Wentz is the most glaringly obvious choice here. The Browns very stupidly came out and said they weren't convinced he was going to be good enough and he clearly is.

Dak was a 4th round pick and every team in the league passed on him 3+ times, INCLUDING the Cowboys. So he doesn't count.

If you would rather have Trubisky than Garrett, then that's on you.

Watson's playing well right now, but just about everyone on this board was comfortable with NOT picking him and felt like the Texans were stupid for trading up for him in the moment.

I believe the Browns could have traded up to get Goff. They had more to offer than the Rams but chose not to. To me, that's passing on a franchise QB when you don't have one. I agree with everything else.

Wentz is better than Goff

If you are one of those people calling for a college coach to take over the Browns, you have revealed how little you understand the business side of football. Top college coaches make more money annually and have greater job security than a pro head coach, especially for a failing franchise. This is why Harbaugh happily took the Michigan job after taking another floundering franchise to the Super Bowl and a few NFC Championships.

This wasn't a two year plan for the rebuild. In ways that are a little self serving, the front office did a deep clean of veterans and invested in future assets for two straight years. Hue was on board for the understanding that he gets a longer leash for joining an unorthodox front office. Judging Hue's success for the front office decisions to rebuild differently is a mistake.

This doesn't fly. The Browns were never in a position to draft Jared Goff.

You can't say an organization passed on a player because they didn't trade up for a player. That's not how it works.

Different sport and the 76ers were openly purposely losing

Also he hasn't turned anything around yet. A lot of people are crowning the 76ers... still haven't won 30 games under him yet

We aren't? Aren't you a Tank Admiral? There's a reason people are crowning the 76ers. They have acquired some elite talent through tanking a draft picks. They've added some solid veterans around their young guys now. They stayed the course with Brent Brown and have built chemistry and stayed true to their process. Look at the teams around the 76ers in the East. The competition for a playoff spot is as wide open as it's been in years.

You see how bad Flacco looks? How much longer is Ben going to play. When we are in the final stage of our process (year 3-4) Baltimore and Pittsburgh will be entering into another process of their own.

I have heard this so many times over the past 10 years it's not even funny. It's actually kind of sad. In reality those teams have constantly reloaded and we've blown our Load on the likes of Manziel and Weeden

What a horrible comparison

In the NBA, one player can take you from 1st pick to playoffs.

Two franchises who tore their teams down, went with the youth movement, stockpiled draft picks, accepted that there will be some losing. Both long term rebuilds.

In the past 10 years have Flacco and Ben looked this bad? Ben has 1 more year tops. Flacco is lucky The Ravens don't have a good backup. He looks horrible. They both need to reload at QB.

They're both well run organizations and we still have a trucker who inherited everything he's ever had calling our shots who has the temperament of a 3 year old

I'll believe we are a better run organization than the stools when I see it

I don't disagree about the overall incompetence of the franchise, but at least we only blew 22nd overall picks on those guys. As horrible as our QB situation has been, it's pretty amazing that we haven't drafted a QB higher than 22nd overall since Couch.

I have a feeling that is likely to change in 2018, though.

Their drafts have not been as good in years past. Especially Baltimore. You don't have to believe we are a better run organization. Some of the worse owners still win games. I'm asking you where would Pittsburgh be if Ben went down right now? He might not even be there next season. Joe Flacco has been a bottom 5 QB for the last year. There are stuck with his shitty ass too. Their window is scheduled to close when ours opens.

So, you don't think they blew-it when passing on Breshad Perriman? :chuckle:
