2019 Browns Head Coach Candidates

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I don't like the idea of us trying to find a new coach, but this team has put this conversation into motion with their lack of results.

Now...again, it's not impossible that these people could save all of their jobs. Like if we see some sort of Eric Mangini circa 2009 "Save your ass" sort of thing? then yeah, let's go foward, draft some guy in the top 5/top 10 and be done with it.

But you cannot put up back to back to back seasons like we've seen the past three years. There has to be SOME measure of progress that should have occured this season. This team should have had at least 1 win by now IMO.

They still have the second half of the season so with Haslem running the show, Jackson could still be playing for his job whether or not the FO agrees with him. Things do have to change and we need to show growth from the players and Haslem.

If Zane Gonzalez makes 2 FG in the Jets game and we're 1-5 I feel like the talk would be a LOT quieter. Would be just 1 game difference but it's crazy how much it matters.

I don't totally disagree with you, but I have a few counter points.

No. 1 - Wentz was a No. 2 overall pick and top choices like that get SIGNIFICANTLY more leeway than guys drafted in the middle of the 2nd round.

No. 2 - Kizer was much worse in the first five game of this season than any five game stretch of Wentz's rookie year. Kizer was no joke like "worst QB in the last 10-15 years" bad. A sub-50 QB rating is nearly impossible to do over a long period of time. Even JaMarcus Russell never pulled that level of garbage off.

No. 3 - Fluke or not, Hogan came in and moved the ball significantly better than Kizer did in literally every game he played with the same OL, same WRs, same coaching scheme.

To me, this why Hue should be fired though.

No. 1 - it's not an insignificant investment, especially when we traded the rights to a QB at #12. If you are taking a guy in the top 50-60 picks of a draft, you believe that player to be an NFL starter. Is that something we can flatly agree on? Especially when the FO and Hue grandstanded the way they did.

On No. 2 - They weren't that far off. The yardage is a little skewed with Kizer playing limited snaps in 2 games but Wentz was awful in the front half of his rookie year

Deshonne Kizer (week 1-5): 851 yards, 3 TD, 9 INT's
Carson Wentz (week 5-9): 1365 Yards, 3 TD's, 8 INT's

On No. 3 - Isn't this like a AAA pitcher? Or what is the equivalent? Comes in loose, makes a couple plays and I don't disagree (moves the ball a bit better). D sees tape of him, completely shuts him down and then we all realize this is the QB Kizer has out performed in practice for months.

Also, just fire this guy already.

I really wanted Hue to be good. Hell I actually felt the best about him compared to all the other losers we had.

But you are what your record says you are and Hue is the worst ever.

I don't see how he stays here unless we at least win a few here. A proposition that seems nearly impossible at this point.

Hue still has not lost the team. He still has that locker room.

Meh, what the hell... Hey, @CBBI , go ahead and throw my hat into the ring for inclusion in the hypothetical Tier 4. I certainly can't do any worse than Hue is doing.

No, because you've already stated you take joy in seeing the Browns fail, and I hate you and fart in your general direction.

Indy is currently trying to chase Chuck Pagano out of town.

Would you take him?

If he comes with a healthy Andrew Luck certainly

But really we missed out on the actual stud hire from Indy when we for some reason weren't interested in Arians even though he was interested in us...

Man, I'd kill for the Browns to have swing for the fences for a guy like Arians.

But I imagine he'd probably go "Naw, I'm good" while still trying to angle for a Super Bowl in the NFC West, and living in Arizona.

I don't know...I think Pagano would hypothetically be a good fit. Has led teams to the playoffs, experienced some success. You'd also be drafting a QB for the man to work with so that would be a positive as well.

Obviously the competition would be very hard to land him, but it's worth trying for.
