2018 Buckeyes Football

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
If he's covering up something like that, yeah.

But I'd be lying if I said I knew exactly what was going on.
I'd recommend reading the story. The texts are black and white. He knew and it's an undisputed fact that he lied last week when he was asked about it. At minimum, he did not do his due diligence and let a wife beater stay on staff and on payroll for several years without repercussion.

Every time LeBron leaves, OSU has to fire their football coach.

Assuming the texts are real (I'm not implying they aren't), there is just no believable way Meyer didn't know about the 2015 incident. And last week he emphatically said he didn't know.

I don't see him surviving this, but I said the same thing about Dantonio and Izzo, so who knows.

I really don't know what to think. On one hand, there doesn't really seem to be any way that Urban wouldn't have known. On the other, she never pressed charges, despite this happening multiple times? At that point, Urban is making a he said, she said decision. Doesn't seem like a smoking gun to me, but I'm definitely giving Urban the hairy eyeball...

Pressing charges just can’t be the litmus test in cases like this. There are too many emotional and psychological factors, compounded by having kids and fear of retaliation, to question veracity based on a lack of more formal police involvement.

The pictures are bad. Urban knew assuming the texts are real, and there’s no reason to think they’re not. Unless this is some crazy forgery, he’s got to go.

Just watched a two minute interview with smith's ex-wife and she said she texted Shelley about it, but Shelley never said she brought it to urban. She (ex wife) also went on to say that her family said not to press charges because they wouldn't have any income (no idea if she works or not). This video is on bleacher report if anyone wants to watch.

I certainly understand your view. But to play devil's advocate...

Did Urban see the pictures?
Is Urban in a position to fire Smith based on accusations?

According to texts, sounds like Urban questioned Smith and he said it was fabricated.

It doesn't sound like Urban followed up like he should have, but this isn't cut and dry either, imo.

Definitely gets interesting with the Courtney Smith interview about not being sure if Shelley actually told Urban. If I remember the report correctly, Shelley/Courtney texts about Urban were about Shelley stating not to worry about Urban, etc. I believe one text was about, "Urban said don't worry about Zach." But what was the text about?

If Urban knew EVERYTHING? He needs to go. Blatantly lied about it last week and has IN CAPS at OSU "TREAT WOMEN WITH RESPECT." Bad look, my man.

If Shelley was being vague w/Urban and he didn't know the full extent? It's a gray area.

If it's the worst: Schiano won't be a bad interim and an OSU Head Coaching gig is a pretty sought after position. I have a feeling a bunch of big names will be in the airwaves.

The big thing is OSU shouldn't be punished at all since it wasn't an Ops/University thing. If everything turns out to be true, it seems like like it's an all coaching/wives thing.

Let's hear Meyer's side today. No way he either comes out of the gate and leaves. Or if there's more to this, he has to get it out right away.

No matter what OSU needs to come out and say it doesn't hinder any bowl games, etc...can't have any recruits flipping.

To clarify, Shelley told Courtney that she (Shelley) would have to tell Urban about this. After the fact, Shelley never explicitly told Courtney "I told Urban". I think one would have to assume she did tell Urban.

I don't think it was necessarily Urban's duty to go to the police, but it was his duty to remove this shit heel Zach Smith from his football program.

Unless these texts come out to be forged or something crazy out of left field, I expect Urban to resign. I can only the imagine the headlines of "OSU and Gene Smith do not care that Urban Meyer knowingly kept a woman beater on his football staff". That's an awful look for the university.

It'd make a lot more sense if Meyer hadn't denied knowing about 2015 at media days.

Had he said, "I heard something internally, but charges were never filed and then she filed for divorce so I gave them their privacy and let it go" then this makes more sense. That's not maybe the best way he could've handled it, but at least this way no one was lying.

Now, someone is lying. Either he knew about 2015 or he didn't. And if he did, why did he lie about it?

Do the details even matter at this point (in reference to Urban staying on)?

The media is going to sensationalize the story because of Urbans stature. Once youre in the crosshairs, generally you're done like Brady Quinn in an EAS commercial.

I think one would have to assume she did tell Urban.
To add to this, Meyer said Shelley got involved in 2009. I find it hard to believe she would get involved then, but not even pass along info in 2015.

Hope Zach Smith gets his ass reamed in prison.
