This...I know about what he & Tate have done in College (not much at this point) and that they were both very highly rated recruits but that's about it...


I guess what I'm wondering is...do we know for sure that he's better than Tate Martell? Or did something happen with Martell that is causing us to look at Fields?

It would be unprecedented at OSU to boot a 5 star QB to the curb in favor of a 5 star QB transfer. And that's exactly what would happen if Fields comes here; Martell would be gone in an instant.

I know Fields has much better size for a QB and still has the mobility...but is he that much better of a passer?

I'm just trying to get a better understanding of the situation here.

I think Fields see it as a place he can come in a compete with a really good staff to develop him as a QB. Tate on the other hands knows he has the edge in terms of being in the program and knowing what the staff wants.

Both are high rated QBs. Let's not forget Troy Smith wasnt rated higher than Zwich and he end up winning the job and the Heisman.

Tate also knows he is in a good program to develop him. If he doesn't win the job, he will still be able to take advantage of the staff to keep developing. No point in transferring programs to sit and possibly not have the right coaches to help him develop. He probably knows being a graduate transfer with two years of eligiblity like Burrow was, is the best backup option. You never know what can happen during the season and being able to play is better than having to sit.
