How many read options has Haskins run this year? Like any?

If he has, he certainly hasn't kept any.

Not that he's needed to yet but it would probably help the RBs if he did to keep the defense honest.

He's had several RPO's where he can stick it in belly of RB and then let them ride on an outside sweep, or he pulls it out and generally hits a receiver on inside slant. We've shown that several times in both games.

I don't think there is much need for Haskins to run true zone read on the run though. They're doing more definitive downhill runs, and mixing in a lot of counters and pulling guard, tackles, and even the center.

When you have a QB as effective as Haskins, you don't need to risk him in the run game to keep offenses honest. Defensive secondaries are already backing off the LOS way more than Barrett ever saw. And it's not like Weber/Dobbins are struggling......their YPC is right in line with what it should be.

Our offense has been a juggernaut so far and it's a breath of fresh air.

I love how the offense looks so far. The only thing that I hope they install is some of the more run oriented hybrid plays that we used with Jalin Marshall, Curtis Samuel, and Dontre Wilson. I don't think Paris Campbell or KJ Hill are really built for those types of plays. It might give them a chance to give Dobbins or McCall some more touches.

Anyone else notice that the linebacker group has shifted from that speedy type linebacker to more of a traditional linebacker this season?

I feel since Urban has got here, the staff has really liked having fast linebackers that can cover alot of ground. This year it seems like we have move to the more tradition bigger and stronger linebackers. I wonder how much that hurt us against TCU especially in the run game.

The defense has not looked great, but last night TCU had a great game plan, and there players made a lot of plays. I have to imagin some of the issues we are having are caused by youth on the team, some players have taken some bad angles and in the wrong spot. Outside of maybe PSU and UM we won’t see a offense that can play at that pace again until maybe the playoffs. This game should put a lot on tape on what we need to clean up before PSU.

But man this offense is something special. I think as the year goes on, we will be able to add in the QB option run at times and just destroy teams. The running game had been very simple, not much creativity yet because we have not needed it.

I definately think youth has alot to do with it especially with the linebackers and DBs. I also think some scheme changes also attributed to lackluster defense. I think we are playing more 4-2-5 lineups with Pete Werner and Malik Harrison in as linebackers. Where in previous years we would use a tradition 4-3-4 with faster linebackers and not switching to a 4-2-5 as often. Like Dante Booker is prime example of the change, he was one of those 3 starting linebackers in 2016 and now is a backup.

Also they don't have that hybrid linebacker/DB that we would use in the Tressel years and early Urban years. They would call it the star position and it was used alot. I think we are now using an extra DB in the 4-2-5 and a bigger MLB in Tuf Borland when in 4-3-4.

Thought Urban's presser went pretty well all things considered.

Anything new on Nick? I know he's out against Tulane, but I haven't seen anything officially ruling him out for Penn State.

Month, minimum, is what Ive heard.

You won't get much from OSU on an injury situation.
