2018 Cleveland Browns Off Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
It seems like the front office is leaking alot of different QBs in the last couple days. I think they are trying to get someone to move up to #1. I wouldn't be surprised if the front office's favorite QB is someone they think will definitely be there at 4. Maybe Lamar Jackson or Baker Mayfield. It might as be a ploy to figure out who is willing to move up to #4 to get the 4th QB.

I think I've seen the Brown's linked to everyone of the top 5 QB but Rosen, I even saw something about how the Browns like Jackson just not at #1.

You can't do that to a fanbase that wen 0-16 and just had to deal with the entire media mocking them for trading out of taking Carson Wentz.

and if they do? I will raise hell on here over it.

I agree, they just need to take their guy at #1 and be done with it. Like I said the leaking each QBs name might be just a ploy to see who they can get to come up for #4. Those kind of trades for multiple picks have to have frame works already worked out before the draft starts. It would be hard to negotiate it in the time between picks, especially when it might be 4 QBs in the first 4 picks.

Funny, yes..for sure.

But in all honesty, it's smart for a couple reasons:

1. Put maybe our only 1 national TV game early (Week 3) so there's more of chance all our new people are healthy/not suspended.

2. Crow returns to CLE

3. There's a CHANCE we could see Bridgewater again on the national stage.

4. Put 2 teams that could potentially be 0-2 (I know, I know...I have high hopes for us this year. As in 5-7 wins. But going off last year) up against each other and have a chance to get their 1st win.

You think anyone anywhere cares about Crowell returning to play the Browns?

Literally zero of those things are even remotely exciting, and I’m a fan of one of the teams playing.

If the Browns were an expansion team with low expectations? I could see a trade scenario playing out okay to the fanbase. But even then? It would have to be 1999 Ricky Williams/Saints-like.

There's just no way that would go over well with not only the fanbase, but the media as well.

I mean can you imagine Dorsey walking out for THAT Press Conference? Shit on Grossi all you want, but you think he's going to be very happy with that?

You have to stay at 1. We can debate trading down from 4. That's fine. But 1 is a big no-no. Especially for an 0-16 football team.

I was disappointed when we fired Sashi Brown. I hated losing but I saw the plan and believed it would work. Analytics and build a base of talent thru the draft and then getting your QB and FAs. Now I believe we have really messed it up. I came in with an open mind about Dorsey because of his success in KC. Then he started talking. First he said we have to get some real football players in here. Ask Urban Meyer what the most important thing is when taking over a team(besides recruiting)--getting the guys who are already there to buy into your message and program. Next it was him knocking analytics and talking about old school football guys build football teams. Then he talked about the trades he made about the players not fitting into their schemes. You know how many times I have heard that with Brown's. Trading talent for 50 cents on the dollar doesn't make you better. Finally the draft is less then 24hrs and the only one who knows who we are drafting 1 is him. Great team building there.

So I investigated why he was fired from KC after being pretty successful there. What I found didn't surprise me. “It wasn’t dysfunction so much as it was decisions were being made that seemed to come out of nowhere." example --Drafting Kevin Hogan-stunned coaches and scouts. "Others in the building saw signs of decisions becoming less collaborative, and more centered on Dorsey’s instincts." example--contract extensions for the guys he drafted. “John does stuff and doesn’t tell
people why.” Another source said Dorsey’s management style “could wear on people.”

There was some positives also.

I have seen enough to know we messed up hiring this guy. it is going to put our analytic department back 5 years while the rest of the NFL builds theirs up. He will eventually kill our salary cap with his guys and let talent out the door because he didn't draft them just like KC. He will fire the coach the first chance he gets even though he is giving the guy no chance by not working with him. The worst part is he is going to draft the wrong QB at 1. Rosen and Darnold are easily the 2 best in the draft. Everyone in or associated with the NFL sees this. This guy is gonna draft Mayfield or Allen with the #1 pick.

god I hope I am wrong and this guy drafts the right QB and builds a winner.
