2018 Cleveland Browns Off Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: Bell.

ESPN tried to compare him to fucking Jim Brown the other day.

I uh...was beyond mad at that comparison.

I... dont get this. He's an automatic threat to lead the league in rushing, TDs and receptions by a RB every year, and likely will be until he's 30. He takes that offense from good to downright scary. Might be their best player.

We're not talking about a run of the mill talent here, and between him and Antonio Brown, they've made Ben's twilight years a LOT more productive than they should have been. I think we've gone a bit overboard with the whole positional value thing.

As long as the final outcome is Bell leaving the division after this season, that's a win to me. I dont care how it happens. I'm tired of the Browns losing to that franchise, and if he leaves that's a huge hit to their offense.
I’ll just say it, I don’t think LeVeon Bell is the run-away best RB in the league.

I think he’s a top five back in the NFL currently—likely top three—but part of his productivity comes from having a very strong offensive line and being patient to allow them to create holes.

In terms of his ability to catch the football, sure, he’s good in space. But a lot of that was also play design and getting him in an exploitable matchup. Todd Haley is now in Cleveland.

He’s good, but he’s not worth $17 million/year. And with that contract, Ben’s contract, and Brown on the books...

I think they would have had a tough time retaining key parts of their defense. Tough decisions would’ve been made.

This is pure fantasy. There's no Deangelo Williams ready to step in this time. That team without Bell is a shell of itself, and Bell knows it. That's why he's twisting the knife.

They'll be content to let 2018 Ben with 250k miles on his odometer, sit back there and throw 60 times, take all that punishment and try to bail out a defense that gave up 45 points to Blake Bortles in the playoffs.

This is what the end looks like, boys. I hope the rats drown when they jump off the bandwagon.
The only thing that's pure fantasy is pretending an organization as well run as Shittburgh is going to let the loss of a RB they ran into the ground end their prominence as an organization

So it truly is basically just a "Where are they right now?" power ranking type of thing. Got it.
You really gonna blame Anyone for betting against the long term prospects of a team owned by Jimmy Haslam?

I mean...Jimmy’s job is to spend money. More accurately, they are betting against everything Dorsey and the FO have done, and said FO themselves.

Which, fine. Saying, “The Browns have always been bad thus we will pick them to be bad forever” is something fans on a message board can get away with.

But questionable content from a “worldwide leader in sports.”

Ben is about done too, probably. Him and Bell gone doesn’t make them a shit organization any more than getting LeBron made the Cavs a good organization.

But, it will mean they have to fill the most important position in sports, along with the loss of another star in Bell. And living up to both of those guys will be hard for whoever comes next.

Strongly disagree

Jimmys job goes well beyond spending money. It also involves establishing the infrastructure of the franchise and keeping it in tact, you talking about Dorsey is missing the point of why people would justifiably put the Browns last, because most people probably don't believe Dorsey will be here in 3 years

And at this point can you really blame them? Haslam is going through a coach and a GM every 2 years if that

That's the problem. That's why I'll never fault these predictions for keeping the Browns at the bottom. Because we have an owner who hasn't shown the ability to see any vision through for more than 2 years

You can say Dorsey is different, but where's the objective logic in that? That's mostly just wishful thinking that now our extremely impatient and indecisive owner is settled in on stability

but the Stools are actually a good organization. Like this isn't the Cavs lucking into the GOAT being born here. This is a team that is ran very well that is constantly reloading

I've been hearing for YEARS that the Steelers run was ending. Before Brown was there. Before Bell was there. Good organizations have stability and find talent. Bad organizations reshuffle every 2 years.

I can not wait for the day Ben hangs it up. Bell walking away after this season. I can not wait. Its getting closer and with that coach they have...oh boy.

Well, I cant speak for him firing everyone the second something goes wrong.

But I think the remainder of my point stands. I thought it was going to be a ranking based on rosters and moves and such. If they just glanced and said, “Eh, Jimmy Haslam,” that isn’t very interesting or useful. But whatevaaaa.

Yes, that was kind of my point with that analogy... cavs are a shit org, Steelers a great one.

But losing stars and hall of famers will affect any team going forward in a big way.

I agree with you, just misinterpreted your point

Great QBs are hard to replace even for good organizations.

Unless they find a good replacement for Rapey McFatface quick, they will have a sharp downturn when he leaves, Bell or no Bell.
