2018 Cleveland Indians

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The problem is this. If you don't want to operate in the red in 2018 (2019 doesn't matter yet) and last year's deep WS run allowed you to expand payroll for 2017. This gave us some extra money in 2017 to spend on EE and Jay Bruce. Now take that money away since there wasn't a deep playoff run not only in attendance but TV revenue from those games (at least 4 in the WS and ALCS)

Where is the extra money coming from in 2018 to spend? 2019 doesn't matter as we are looking at year to year budgets.

I get what you are saying but if they make a deep playoff run in 18 they will not be in the red. With the amount of free agents they will have after 18, it's either you go all in or trade the free agents to be. If going all in means you add some cap and possibly going slightly in the red then so be it! Adding cap that is only one year actually will not hurt us at all.

You don't sit there and cut cap when you are a World Series contender and they still will be next season because of the fact they will be putting out almost the exactly same team. If you lose Santana we have to replace him and we don't have someone in house at the moment to replace his production so we will have to sign a free agent to replace him. They know they are a contender and will make sure they do all they can to stay on in 18. If you don't think a FO is planning ahead is underestimating what they do. They probably have some rudimentary plans for 19, 20, 21 all in place and will draft and make trades if it fits the current and long term plans

It's already been hinted at, and we'll probably find out before too long that Kluber's back started to act up at the end of the regular season. He wasn't particularly sharp in his last regular season start vs a really bad, young White Sox lineup (5 IP, 6 H, 3K).

And he's been getting killed since last night's game started last night, and I know people won't like this take, but he was not really that bad last night. He made 2 bad, bad mistakes that Didi capitalized on and was struggling some with his control, but he showed flashes of what we expected. He just wasn't as sharp as we've come to expect. If the margin for error were not so small, I think we would have seen him go another 2 innings scoreless. At 3-0, Tito could not risk that with an incredible bullpen behind him.

Glad you said it and not me

I actually also thought Kluber pitched well...

Why would we cut one of the best defensive catchers in baseball under a still reasonable contract? I mean it would cost us more to replace him with equal ability than we are actually paying Gomes. The tandem didn't hit well as we would like, but we had one of the best production overall of any team for catchers. This catching crew isn't being touched period if anything they are adding more depth behind them not cutting one

Enough with the bullshit, it stings even more.

If Kluber was so goddamn hurt then you plan to flip Kluber and Cookie around, you know, someone that is reportedly healthy? Therefore Kluber should've gave it his all in game 3, not game 2 and 5. Cookie should've been the guy in game 5 and maybe those Didi homers never happen. Very smart to pitch a hurt horse 2 out of 5 games while Cookie goes once.

I'm tired of reading the injury excuse, it's worse than complaining about the dickhead umpire.

I think they may replace Santana with Mejia. When Mejia plays 3B, EE is either DH or 1B) you can then have Yandy as your 3B as well.

I think we may try to trade Kip in the offseason to get us a legit 3B.

Could you get a bag of cheese doodles for Kipnis right now? Dude is straight awful.

With how much he's owed, we aren't getting anything of value for Kipnis. Maybe if we eat a big chunk of his salary, but then what's the point? Hopefully he can return to a the 4+ WAR player he was in 2015 and 2016 with a injury-free spring training.

Is Tito for sure coming back?

Is Tito for sure coming back?

That is the worst question ever posted on here not gonna lie. Tito is here until he decides to retire or resign since he is also goood friends with the FO and has been off and on part of this organization for many years. It's 100 he will be back as long as his health is good

Can't see the Indians moving on from the Gomes/Perez combo with the way they value them both behind the plate. Also cannot imagine Kipnis being full-time OF - he's back to 2B or traded.

Um really? The guy had health problems all year. If he doesn't think the team has another run in him, maybe he doesn't come back. It's a fair question you boob.

"The worst question ever posted" Hyperbole much?

Then you say "It's 100 he will be back if his health is good"

No shit, it has to do with his health, why do you think I am asking the question? So now, you yourself have also asked the worst question ever posted according to your scale. I swear, sometimes...

He didn't say "Is Tito going to be fired?"

He asked if he was for sure going to be back. Francona's gonna be 59 next year and has health issues. It's not out of the realm of possibility that he decides he just doesn't want the grind anymore.
