2018 College Football Season/Playoff Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I knew those pricks were going to throw LSU in the top-3, so now if Alabama beats them in a score like... 34-28, they'll drop LSU to like fifth and then include them in the last go-around and leave out the B1G winner.

Need Alabama to beat LSU into the ground badly. Need Oklahoma to lose as well. Kentucky will most likely go down to Georgia this week, so they'll be gone. Washington State would never get in over Ohio State if it came down to it, so I'm not worried about them.

It's not looking good boys. Just rooting for us to win out, ruin Michigan's chances, win the B1G Championship, and see where the bowl season takes us. I don't think we're good enough to hang with Alabama or LSU anyways.

LSU has a loss already. They’re not getting in over a 12-1 BIG champ with another one. Zero chance.

Best chance for SEC to get 2 teams is if Bama goes 12-1 with the loss being to UGA. Otherwise, they're going to need some 2 loss conference champs.

It boggles my mind that you guys are thinking about paths for OSU to get in.

We would have to get soooooo much better to not lose again.

Signature wins this year are against TCU (barely - basically bc of late turnovers we caused), the team that just lost to Kansas; and PSU - awesome comeback game, in fact one of the best OSU games of the Meyer era - who followed that up with an L to MSU.

Our defense has to be 4 times as good starting Saturday, and they won’t be. I have us losing to Michigan if we don’t get any better.

Meyer teams do get better, and this year he’s a bit behind schedule due to some obvious bullshit, but talking about PLAYOFFS?

We will see what we are made of starting Saturday...

We all know they have to win out, and we know as of now they aren't favored over Michigan. Still doesn't mean we can't speculate if they do.

I mean, I think we're all more worried about OSU winning out then we are the rest of the stuff...

We're just discussing how our chances aren't gone yet.

I hear you guys. I just am a bit discouraged by the results this year, and it’s not just Purdue. Surprised to see our defense so soft.

As usual the rankings have some garbage spots but many sort themselves out by the time it matters.

Meyer needs to stop hiring unqualified buddies to be his assistants and instead hire the best man for the job. With how much OSU is paying these guys, this shouldn't even need to be said.

And yeah, there were several dumb rankings. But certainly nothing changed my opinion of what our path is.

Now Durkin is fired. Lol. Trying to bring him back was idiotic.

People get paid 6 figures to make those decisions and I find it to be unbelievable how bad they can be at it.

Lots of near upsets yesterday that would have been very good.

Oh well. At least Bama & Michigan took care of business.

I feel like Joel Klatt steals my brain power and relays my exact thoghts but in a much more articulate way.

He’s dead on. Had this debate over last 2 weeks with my Southern friends. ACC is absolute trash and by far worst P5 conference this year.

I think the Big12 and Big10 are neck and neck for #2 although my gut says Big10 is #2 (mostly because of strength of Michigan).

Pac12 is #4.

Then u look at the rankings and see how fucked the Big10 is and how over-inflated the SEC and ACC is. In the first ratings the SEC had (2!!!!!!!) teams with records of 5-3 in the top 25 lololol......you can’t make this shit up. Florida was the highest ranked 2 loss team. LSU was the highest ranked 1 loss team. Why? They’ve both largely been trash. It’s incredible.

Oh, who has the CFB playoff rights? Ah, ESPN. Who lost a massive bidding war against Fox for premier Big10 rights? ESPN you say? Yes. And the ACC has an exclusive deal with ESPN and a $2B deal with the SEC?

No....politics certainly aren’t in play.....

People have laughed at me in the past as I call this shit out.

I get Bama won the title last year and was the best team in the country. But how does the, BY FAR, best conference in America get left out of the playoff? Well, because the network that owns the rights to the CFP would rather protect their financial interests.

2025 until ESPN can have the bid taken for their CFP away from them by Fox, which...judging by their moves? Will happen.

I think Fox is angling to get the rights to the Big Ten, Pac 10 and Big XII from the looks of it.

And they actually do a terrific job at it.

ESPN literally sucks at everything and as I've bitched at before? Completely pissed away the ABC Sports legacy.

OSU doesn’t get blown out by sub par teams we don’t need to worry about it.
