2018 College Football Season/Playoff Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Lawrence is very good, but there's always a flavor of the month. Remember when Tua was the greatest thing since sliced bread? Was barely a month ago.

So glad as a Browns fan I don't have to break down fucking quarterback prospects anymore. I'll take Mayfield, thank you, cuntasauruses.

Congratulations to the 2018 National Champions....your Ostarine Tigers!!!!

They came out fast, lean, and aggressive.

This was certainly said "tongue in cheek", but can you imagine if Ohio State had (3) different players all test positive for the same exact steroid?

It's a bit annoying this will all be swept under the rug.

Not just a steroid...it's a product that is illegal in the United States.

It's incredible that this wasn't a story. Sports media is a disgrace.

By the way, the playoff just finished its fifth year and the number one seed has yet to win a title.

2015 - Ohio State (#4 seed)
2016 - Alabama (#2 seed)
2017 - Clemson (#2 seed)
2018 - Alabama (#4 seed)
2019 - Clemson (#2 seed)

Right where we should be and should have been all season long.

3rd best team didn't get to participate in a 4 team playoff.

Need to beat Purdue. I’m salty too but... I mean...come on.

Just curious what do people think about Dabo?

I like him. I think he's genuine. His "holier than thou" comes across like a shtick but I think it's just who he is.

It's amazing that Clemson identified him as "the guy" when he had no coordinator experience. He was promoted from WR coach to Head Coach, based on his charisma alone, basically. He was an elite recruiter and motivator. The guy is humble enough to stay out of the way of his coordinators and in many respects, may be the reason he gets them to stay so long. It's ridiculous Brett Veneables isn't a HC somewhere, and that Tony Elliot and Jeff Scott are seemingly happy with their co-offensive coordinator positions.

For years the rub on him, as an OSU fan, was how he negatively recruited against Meyer and staff........saying he (Meyer) would leave the program at any moment (which ended up being true but under a different context), and that position coaches wouldn't last their 4 years at the school (which is accurate at most Power 5 programs). But they've (Clempsom) got the secret sauce right now. HC who isn't going anywhere, and a staff seemingly content to stay in their roles. Combine that with Ostirine, and you've got a helluva fighting Tiger.

Yeah, he’s a great coach. No knock on him there. Strictly talking about how he comes across. Maybe you are right though and he is genuine and thats just who he is.

To me it’s just pure cringe. And the people who want him in the NFL are crazy.

I dont even care about the negative recruiting against Meyer. Ended up being true more or less.

re: Clemson as a program.

I rather like and respect them. I've been to a 2002 game against Georgia Tech, a 2003 game against FSU, A spring game in 2004, and the 2004 game at Texas A&M. I've got autographs, jerseys and quite a few things mainly due to the fact a family friend wanted us to see a game with him.

So..I'm not annoyed at their success. I actually find it ironic that their run of success mirrors said family friend who played NCAA Football dynasties during that time and had a similar run.

The enjoyment was watching Trevor Lawrence and Ross ball, and 'Bama get steamrolled. Also seeing Clemson go from being a punchline of a joke to being a two-time champion in fours years is also cool. One could indeed see this program becoming what it is because of how well they recruit in an insanely football rich area (SC/GA/FL)

Everything else.

-Santa Clara is an awful site for a major sporting event. That stadium is awful.
-This entire thing feels very "fake" and not very "traditional"
-FOX needs to take the rights away from ESPN because some of the pregame telecast was very cringe
-Imagine Dragons is awful and needs to go away for a lonnnng time.

But it could be just as likely they all took the same supplement as friends on the same team as the team providing the supplement.

I don't think its a coincidence they all tested positive, I just don't think its the team itself.

Love Dabo, he's a great leader, and I admire the way he handles himself. I could listen to him talk for hours.

Anything with Ostarine (very specific SARM) in it, is illegal in the US. So unless they were taking an illegal supplement (which Clemsons strength and conditioning team would absolutely not allow) it’s likely a portion of the team is juicing.

The interesting aspect is (3) players tested positive for the same steroid....what we don’t know is how many players were tested overall? Was it 3 of 6 players or like 3 of 50? I agree with your overall assessment that this isn’t likely being pushed by Clemson itself but rather players talking each other into it based on benefits.

That being said, USC had a steroid scandal under Pete Carrol that was swept under the rug too. Dr. Ting, father of Brian Ting, was supplying to many members of USC’s roster, and hardly anybody is even aware of that story.
