2018 College Football Season/Playoff Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Akron beat Northwestern for their first win against the B1G since 1894.

I’m done with thinking Northwestern will be good. I’ve overrated Fitzgerald.

That West division though, ick. Wisconsin should come away with it but, I don’t know.

The B1G is pretty garbage this year, especially the West.

Northwestern and Purdue are the only ones who have played a conference game, so the standings out there don't mean a ton right now, so I'm just going to go by overall W-L.

T1) Minnesota | 3-0 (W vs. NM State, Fresno State, Miami OH)
-- struggled with Fresno 21-14 at home
-- play games @Ohio State and @Wisconsin
T1) Iowa | 3-0 (W vs. Northern Illinois, Iowa State, Northern Iowa)
-- second best team in the B1G West in my opinion
-- have a HUGE home game versus Wisconsin this weekend at 8:30 PM which could have huge implications in the winner of that division
-- play @Penn State on October 27th
-- my predicted record for them right now is 10-2 with losses to Wisky and PSU, but if they slip by UW this weekend, watch out
T3) #18 Wisconsin | 2-1 (W vs. Western KY, New Mexico, L vs. #25 BYU)
-- I've got them as the most talented team out West as of now, even with the loss to BYU
-- rough schedule the rest of the way IMO, as they've got away games @Iowa, @Michigan, and @Penn State; which I can't see them getting through unscathed
T3) Illinois | 2-1 (W vs. Kent State, Western IL, L vs. South Florida)
-- these guys blow and have at least four more losses on the schedule as of now
5) Northwestern | 1-2 (W @ Purdue, L vs. Duke, Akron)
-- these guys also blow and play Michigan State and Michigan the next two weeks; also have later season matchups against Notre Dame and Wisconsin - complete non-factor

Nebraska and Purdue are both winless so far and are complete garbage. Buckeyes have them both on the schedule, @Purdue on 10/20 and vs. Nebraska on 11/3.

If Wisconsin goes down this weekend @Iowa, there could be complete bedlam out there between Iowa, Wisconsin, and maybe Minnesota. This side of the conference is really fucking bad though.

Gonna have to go undefeated when its said and done.

Was at the TCU game, during pregame we saw the LSU game winner in the stadium, OSU fans went nuts. We all like Joe.

I was down there myself. Awesome atmosphere in that grand cathedral of a stadium. Love witness big men touchdowns!

Alot of things would have to happen for a 1 loss B1G Champ Ohio State to get left out.

Yea, that was just my knee jerk reaction to how bad the B1G is currently.

Agreed. OSU will get in if they win the conference with only one loss. I know they've had unexpected losses before (MSU in 2015 and Iowa last year). But, I think PSU is the only team that I can see beating them. The Wolverines and Spartans would have to improve dramatically to have a chance.

I think Northwestern does a good job considering their academic standards and size of their school. They'll never be a powerhouse like OSU. But, they field a pretty good team compared to someone like Illinois which is a much larger school that should be able to recruit and develop players better than they do.

OSU is going to win by 14+ in Happy Valley.
It's tough to disagree based on what we've seen so far. Happy Valley at night is almost always tough to play in, though.

Is Alabama as good as everyone in the media is saying? I know it's hard to tell after three weeks, especially with their competition.

Yeah, they probably are.

But LSU and Auburn aren’t fucking around either.

Games of note

Stanford @ Oregon
Texas AM @ Bama

Only 2 ranked games this week, and I am not sure Texas AM should be ranked. Very interested to see if Oregon is competitive with Stanford. Take away 2014 when Mariota won the Heisman, and Stanford has won 4 of 5 vs Oregon, with the lone loss being by 2.

Other interesting games:

Michigan vs Nebraska
MSU vs Indiana
Georgia vs Missouri
Wisconsin vs Iowa
Arizona St vs Washington

Wisconsin iowa has significant implications in the west. That’ll be an interesting one.

Nebraska looks poised for a 3-9/4-8 season so I won’t get my hopes up for a Michigan meltdown

Pedsters on upset alert at Illinois...SMH
