2018 Draft Prospects Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Rosen just rubs me the wrong way.

I mean the kid is extremely cocky. As long as he can go out on the field and produce, it is fine. ~1 year ago he seemed destined to be heading towards Manziel status. Mora even said so b/c of this:

^---This is on one of Trump's golf courses.

Rosen: "I don’t regret posting the photo at all, because personally I thought it was hilarious. I want people to know I’m a real person, that I don’t have someone running my Instagram, I don’t have someone prewriting all of my interviews and stuff. With Trump, I’m learning to evolve my message and understand how to convey the substance of it."

Mora: "I’ve asked him this: I’ve said, ‘Who do you want to be? Do you want to be Johnny Manziel, or do you want to be Tom Brady? And you need to make that decision right now, and you need to start working in the direction that you want to work in. So, if you’re going to go out on Donald Trump’s golf course and wear a hat that says ‘F Trump,’ I said, ‘You’re heading towards Johnny Manziel.’ So, let’s head toward Peyton Manning. Let’s head towards Tom Brady. Let’s head towards Troy Aikman.’"

-----------------------------------------

Now it seems with this latest Q&A he is getting a little better and maturing, but still has that cocky edge to him. If he produces and matures more and doesn't go full Manziel, he should be fine.

Key games for the top QB's in no order but of course Rosen, Allen, Darnold are the elites (all of these QB's are 6'4+):

Rosen: @Stanford, @Washington, @Utah, @USC <-------------brutal schedule.

Allen: @Iowa (1st game), Oregon (ehhh), @AirForce (ehhh) <-------------- I mean, it's Wyoming. He better dominate every single game.

Rudolph: @Texas, @WVU, Oklahoma, Kansas State <-------------------- tough.

Falk: USC, Stanford, @Utah, @Washington <------------------- tough.

Darnold: Stanford, Texas, Utah, UCLA (last game, battle between him and Rosen) <----------------- easier than others, but not a cakewalk.

ON DARNOLD: (super long article, I only left in the important parts. Can read the whole thing HERE)

USC gets inside Sam Darnold's head with virtual reality film study

Tyson Helton, USC’s quarterbacks coach, stood in a film room Monday holding a strange, round gadget that looked like a smaller version of Luke Skywalker’s pilot helmet.

"Before you put this on,” Helton said, “I can turn this thing anywhere and see where you're looking.

To demonstrate, he rotated the helmet from left to right. On a television monitor next to him, a view of USC’s practice field panned in sync, left to right.

Quarterback Sam Darnold’s hands were outstretched for the snap. Straight ahead were USC’s linemen. Through headphones, coaches barked instructions. It was like stepping into Darnold’s head — or that of some organism floating right above him.

Look to your left, Helton said. A turn of the head showed Deontay Burnett in the slot. Cornerback Ajene Harris lined up opposite Burnett, mirroring him — a bad sign for that route.

“So right now Sam should say, 'No, I don't have it,'” Helton said.

The clip rolled forward. The ball was snapped. Darnold tried Burnett anyway. Harris jumped the pass and nearly intercepted it.

What was he thinking, Helton wanted to know. After practice, Helton ran the play back. He could follow Darnold’s head, look at what Darnold looked at: namely, Burnett and Burnett only.

Sam being Sam, he thinks he can fit everything in there,” Helton said.

In the film room, Darnold knew his error immediately.

"Sam uses it some, but because he's getting a lot of reps and he's a little more experienced player, he already knows what he's done wrong,” Helton said.

Draft this man!

Yeah not too hot on Rosen

He has that Manziel vibe just with talent. I doubt he could be a leader of men.

The only thing Rosen has over Darnold are additional highlights, IMO. Darnold seems more durable and helluva lot less cocky.

Rosen reminds me of that kid in HS that is still trying to convince everyone how cool he is. He also has one of the most punchable faces i've seen.

Agree right here mostly. Reminds me a lot of Manziel. How much talent he has remains to be seen. I haven't been that impressed.

Peyton Manning was sexually assaulting trainers at this point in his life.

Some guys grow up, some don't. I'm betting Rosen is a "don't" guy, but it remains to be seen.

I realize there's an entire season to be played, and the view of these prospects is subject to fluctuation.

That said, if what we think we know about these players proves true, I really don't want to draft Rosen. Sure, he may grow up. However, I personally like Josh Allen and Sam Darnold better than him as a prospect, anyway.

Maybe in another year, you would roll the dice with Rosen at the top of a draft if he has a productive/healthy season. This year, with two other stud QB's with ZERO character concerns, I'd rather focus on the alternatives.

Personally, I don't think the Browns will be looking at QB this season given how well Kizer has looked and continues to represent himself.

That relationship with Hue seems excellent, and I fully expect him to make this a moot point.

That said, I'm less bullish on this QB class than most.

I like Darnold, he's got a ton of growing to do. Love his makeup, think he's going to make me a believer this year.

Jackson just doesn't throw anywhere near consistently enough to be an NFL QB right now. Again, so much growing to do, and I have little respect for his coaching staff.

Rosen is what he is, potential and flashes. Not much consistency.

Allen is just a clusterfuck of tools and terrible decisions.

Rudolph is...not a guy I'm interested in.

I agree on the relation to Cleveland--I mostly meant "if I'm a franchise", I would stay away from Rosen at the top of the draft given some of the alternatives. I understand he is an intelligent young man who cares about many things, not just football. However, he's also reckless with his very public opinions and makes reckless decisions as a result of an "untouchable" attitude. Those things can make your organization look bad.

In truth, I anticipate seeing good things from Kizer. By all accounts, the coaches seem to absolutely love him and I think he has a decent chance at being the future (assuming our staff is retained, as they should be but you never know with our ownership). Thus, this QB derby may be moot, as you say.

I think that's a fair take. I am certainly an Allen fan--but I'll admit that's mostly based on his plus, plus tools and the "dreaded" potential moniker. I like him as a top ten pick after a season of progression (against questionable competition). I believe we may have a RCF bet on him, specifically.

Darnold, I think he's as solid as they come this young from a mental stand point. He has some mechanical issues, but he's one of few QB's who I think will truly be worthy of the first overall pick in recent years given his tools.

Rosen--the injury history, the inconsistent play, abrasive public takes, and his cocky nature just turn me off. If he's already that way, imagine once he gets a little more of a platform. He'd have a long way to go to make me be interested.

I admittedly don't know enough about Rudolph. He's one guy I look forward to watching more of this season.

In terms of Jackson, I think he's an NFL WR conversion project, to be completely frank. I don't think he has the mental make-up, accuracy--and coaching staff/college offense--to be more than an elusive runner at the next level.

Rosen didn't even apologize, so I assume he'll be avoided by all teams so he isn't a distraction.

That's how it works, right?

Depends on whether he's good enough to be a starter or not.

He is a anti-Trump cuck so his media stock couldn't be higher. The MSM is apologizing for him. Saying it was taken out of context.

Has it been Kizer actually looking good.

Or has it just been Kizer looking promising compared to the load of shit we have in front of or behind him....?

That's the question that needs answered.
