2018 Draft Prospects Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'm not ready to trade up for any QB yet. We have the draft capital to literally get whatever we want in the draft next year. I think the losing has led some people to lose sight of this but I don't think the FO has. That being said with our first pick which looks like it will be top 5 at worst we have to take the BPA not best QB. With our second first round pick the only way I'm trading up for a QB is if there are serious question marks with Kizer. Right now there's just too much time left to cast him away. At seasons end this will be more clear.

As of today though my approach would be to draft Derwin James with our first pick. Even if it's number 1 overall. With our next pick I would trade up for Saquon Barkley. Two impact players who are arguably the two best players in the whole draft. This hinges on how well Kizer plays and how much they believe in him.
Well when will this bullshit with starting Hogan end?

I think Mayfield has great eyes, and pretty incredible accuracy.

He is good in the pocket too. His weakness is he bails quickly. What QB doesn't have weaknesses?

The Redskins took Cousins the same year as RGIII. It's a good plan when trying to solve the QB problem. It doesn't have to be Mayfield, although he's certainly better than any other prospects you can possibly name right now that have a realistic shot of falling to a later pick in the draft.

For me, bailing from the pocket quickly seems like a tough habit to break. Especially when the game is faster early. I do not think that is as palatable of a weakness as you do. It's as simple as that, I think.

And you just wasted valuable draft capital that could be used to help that QB. It's just not a smart strategy. It also says a lot about the HC and FO to invest that much draft capital in three QB's that high in such a short period of time. Then you actually have to let these guys play long enough to see if they are capable. Imagine if Phill drafted Wentz and Goff and let Goff start first and benched him for Wentz because of his play. He's much improved now but they would've never known. You ned to identify "A" guy and roll with him. Not some guys and pick the one who looks good in a short span. this isn't CFB.

Forgot there isn't a thing called practice.

Good call.

Lol. Stop. Three young high draft picks splitting first team reps? The team will be in the next step of the process next year. That step won't involve a QB shuffle. If I had to piece together information and guess it would be that if we draft a QB next year in the top 34 picks then he will have every chance to be the starter and it will be his team. They aren't drafting a QB that high to push Kizer. It will be to replace him.

No shit.

And in no way am I advocating giving 3 players first team reps. If a guy looks better with the 2's than the guy with the 1's he's earned a shot. It's really not as hard as you're making it out to be in the slightest.

When it comes to the quarterback position for 2018, here's what I'd do.

-Trade Kessler for any sort of conditional draft pick
-Cut Hogan
-Keep Kizer
-Draft top rated QB early in Round 1
-Sign veteran with some starting experience to be primary backup

Go into next season with a QB depth chart of...

Starter: 1st Round Rookie
Backup: Veteran
Developmental/3rd String: Kizer

We're halfway through the CFB season. None of the QB prospects look like top 10 picks right now. They definitely don't look good enough to be the favorite to start next year. I still think there talent other than QB that would be just as impactful for us next season with that first pick. How does this class look compared to last year at this point? Even on draft day last year there were people declaring that there was only one first found QB in the draft and the QB play this year has been clearly worse.

Josh Rosen is the top player in the draft for me, regardless of position.

It's too bad he might possibly be a shit head because I think his physical tools are really special.

Halfway through the 2015 college football season Carson Wentz was holding a clipboard with a broken wrist and Jared Goff was coming off a humiliating performance where he threw five interceptions on national television.

Neither guy at that time was anywhere close to considered the best player in the draft and they ended up going 1st and 2nd.

This time last year Mitch Trubisky was coming off a game in a monsoon where he looked like he couldn't even throw a football and he ended up going 2nd overall. Pat Mahomes was in the midst of a three game losing streak and no one considered him a top 10 pick at that time.

My point is, quarterbacks ALWAYS rise because of the positional importance. That's just the way it is.

And by the way...

Matt Miller has Darnold and Rosen as his No. 2 and No. 3 overall prospects.
CBS has Darnold 2 and Rosen 12.
Luke Easterling of USA Today has Rosen 8 and Darnold 9.
Mel Kiper has Darnold and Rosen 1 and 2.
Todd McShay has Darnold 1 and Rosen 7.

So they all have them overrated at the moment then. All of those guys barely had Watson in the first round last year. They also have been riding the Josh Allen train hard. I don't know how anyone who's watched CFB has either of them 1 or 2.

So is Kessler hurt? If not, any particular reason our potentially best QB is collecting DNPs like trading cards?

are dismissing us trading up for elite talent. We did it to get Njoku.
That's completely different

We made that trade 100% to get a 5th year option on the youngest player in which draft. And we moved up like 4 spots and it cost next to nothing

If you think this front office is going to move multiple high picks to move up in the draft then you're basically saying they plan on abandoning what they have said since day 1 they won't do

It seems Hue benched Kizer so that he can watch a game and see for himself how plays develop when someone else is in the firing line of blitzes. This is what a 21 year old rookie project QB was supposed to be doing in the first half of a learning year. It's why Chicago shelled out big bucks for Glennon to be a bridge QB until Trubisky was ready. Its why Mahomes is still on the bench watching Alex Smith. The problem is, and always has been, Kizer should be behind a bridge QB this year. What I'd really like to know is why the Browns took a second round project QB if 2018 is a better group? Why is the best active wide receiver a guy who got cut from a bad group of Seattle receivers?

Man, Keys, I WANT to believe that

But I really think Hue just thought Hogan could do better and immediately regretted his decision

If that was what it was from the beginning Hue should have screamed from the mountain tops that Kizer would be back sooner rather than later and this is for his development
