2018 Draft Prospects Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
1. Trubisky
2. Mahomes
3. Watson
4. Kizer

Was how I ranked them last year.

1. Mayfield
2. Darnold
3. Jackson
4. Rosen

Is how I rank them this year right now.

I'm not ready to mix the two lists just yet. Want to let the pre-draft process play out first.

If you had to rank the top QB's from 2017 and then also 2018, what would your top 10 look like?

Here's how I ranked last year's prospects:

1. Trubisky
2. Fuck it, trade for/sign a bridge QB and wait until 2018. If you like somebody on Day Three, knock yourself out in the fourth round.

Here's how I rank the past two QB classes combined right now:

Tier One: Trubisky, Rosen, Darnold

Tier Two: Mahomes, Jackson, Mayfield, Watson... let's see how the end of the year plays out.

Tier Three: Fuck it, how the hell did we end up with a bag of shit again? This can't be happening. Okay, call the Bengals.

If Mayfield came in at 6'1 at the combine, where does he go in the draft?

Well, my guess is that they'd remove the phone book out from under him and remeasure.

While I do appreciate the snarky, boobie like response, I would actually like to know. It seems like his height is one of the main things used against him. I just wanted to see what he would have to be for the "we need a afc north qb" to be fine with drafting him.

I think he's going to measure 6'0" 1/2 and will be rounded up to 6'1" on his NFL.com profile.

I'm fine picking him high in the first round.

Those people can go play in traffic.

There's more to it than just height. There are also concerns about hand size. Some of the shorter QBs who are mobile - Russell Wilson, Drew Brees, even goddamn Johnny when he was drafted - also had disproportionate large hands. Word has been that Baker Mayfield is not only 6'0.5, but also isn't going to test out well in hand size and isn't as fast as some think. All of those negatives play a factor, not just his height. Any team drafting as high as the Browns should be taking all the precautions necessary. Hindsight from fans can be changed easily, but a scout can lose his career on betting on the wrong horse at the top of the draft.

Sam Darnold also has smallish hands.

I don't doubt it. I'm not throwing my support behind any of these QB prospects wholeheartedly until I get some more of the scouting process completed.

One thing I noticed with Darnold is he has lost a few fumbles without any contact. There was one where he was rolling out the pocket and just lost grip on the ball.
