2018 Minor League Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
You missed Bieber by multiple days. He pitched Sunday.
I think Chang should move to 3B next season and move JRAM to second (see ya kip).

Chang will have a September debut this season most likely. Either way most of us feel like it is the last season for Kipnis in an Indians uniform, whether it be Diaz or Chang at 3rd base next season is still up in the air.

Yandy to me is a two hole type of hitter since he will just get on base and in the pros he will be a .280+ career average guy with a lower SLG & OPS than one would like. Also what is funny is he is not the best 2 strike hitter yet he gets on base at a 440+ clip at AAA. If you can fix his approach a little better, I think we have ourselves a very good two hole hitter in general. He will always get on base, just never will have amazing numbers otherwise.

Just to put into perspective Yandy's lack of power, and why it holds him back from being an every day player:

His ISO .064 last year with Cleveland and is .061 so far in Columbus this year.

Only two guys are lower than that this year, Jon Jay and Kole Calhoun. Jon Jay has been a slap hitting platoon guy most of his career, and Kole Calhoun has just been brutal this year.

There are 21 guys with an with ISO below .100

Only 4 of them have managed to be league average hitters in terms of wRC+
Joe Mauer - 115
Starlin Castro - 100
Mallex Smith - 111
Jose Altuve - 114 (where the fuck did his power go?)

If you're more interested in Slugging Percentage:

His SLG% this year is .351 and was .327 in Cleveland last year.

There are only 25 MLB hitters at .351 or less this year
Every single one of them rates as a below average hitter according to wRC+

There are 57 hitters below .400
Only 9 of them rate as above average hitters by wRC+

Flat out, there isn't much of a precedence for a guy with so few extra base hits having success at the major league level, particularly as an every day player.

Sounds like he’s pissed about not getting that call up yet

Plutko tossed a no hitter in his first start back in Columbus.

Walked one guy in the ninth.

Triston McKenzie is set to start for Akron on Thursday
Shocking that he's starting in Akron

I thought since the MiLB website hadn't changed him from Lynchburg that we might see him there :chuckle:

So, what’s Brady Aiken’s eventuality? Don’t remember reading about an injury and I can’t find anything germane to 2018 on him. Did I miss something here?

He has been tweeting so we know its not a finger injury. Maybe he needed emergency deviated septum surgery like Kyrie.

Where did all this bieber stuff come from? I just started hearing about him in the last few weeks.

He's been a highlighted guy by a few of us since he was drafted in the 4th round 2 years ago due to his extreme K:BB ratios.
