So neither are worth the money they are making then?

I don’t think the Indians missed out on anything by giving up Clint Frazier for Andrew Miller...Hell, you could have tossed in Bradley Zimmer at this point as well..

However, and I know the Cubs wouldn’t trade their World Series for Gleyber Torres but man oh man if they could have figured out how to win that thing without Aroldis Chapman and still had this Torres dude on that roster ??

He’s the best player I’ve seen since Willie Mays

Yankees are a monster this year. Really not looking forward to playing them.

Agreed. You'll always hear the argument that anything can happen if you make the playoffs. But, the Yanks and Houston are better than the Tribe with fewer holes. It would take an improbable almost miraculous run for the Indians to beat both of those teams in October.

The Indians have the #5 ranked offense in the MLB, the #2 ranked pitching staff, and 2 relievers who have been dominant in the playoffs the last 2 seasons (1.04 ERA in 43-1/3 IP, 14.5 K/9, 1.02 WHIP). Let's not act like this team is AAA compared to the Yankees and Astros.

Edit- Mistyped above. #2 ranked pitching staff should be #2 ranked starting rotation

Stop letting facts in the way of a good pity party! :chuckle:

Explain why we have been struggling to stay above .500 in the worst division in history?

Not saying regular season means anything when it comes to the postseason, at least not much...as long as the Indians make it, they obviously have a shot.

But no need to be a honk. Houston and NY look way better than the Indians up to this point. I wouldn't say it would be miraculous for the Indians to go through both of them on their way to a WS...but my original statement was I'm not looking forward to it, which translates to it's going to be hella tough.

Hard to disagree with that statement.

What a trash take

A miraculous run? Fuck out of here

Any playoff team can beat any other playoff team in a 5 or 7 game series

I feel like most of the people most critical of the Tribe's chances don't even watch baseball. If you think it would take a miracle for any team in the playoffs to win the World Series then there's just no way I can believe you follow the sport

Once again it wasn't even 2 full years ago we were throwing out Ryan Merritt and had bullpen days and still made it to game 7 of the world series. But I'm sure the teams we faced just weren't as good back then!!!

First off, my post wasn't directed at you at all. But here we go:

Because our offense was terrible for most of April and our bullpen was absolutely atrocious for most of May? Despite this, we have the 8th best record in baseball all the while "struggling to stay above .500"

Posting literal statistics makes me "a honk"? And people wonder why some people complain about the quality of this section.

Yes, both of those teams have looked better. Yet we both agree it won't take a miracle to beat either of them. The Astros in particular worry me much more than the Yankees though. The Yankees have a scary offense but their rotation out of Severino really has not been overly impressive.

Yes I agree, the playoffs aren't easy games.

In the end, the team's success relies on the production of Lindor, Ramirez, and Kluber. I think Jordan Bastian or maybe Jensen Lewis said Lindor/Ramirez account for 70% of the team's offensive WAR. Apart from Lindor's grand slam, both of those guys completely no-showed in last year's ALDS and the series still came down to the wire. And of course Kluber had 2 of his worst starts we've ever seen from him. As long as those guys can produce like normal, I like our chances in any series vs. any team.

Do you actually have an opinion or are you just attacking posters again? I don't see why he has to 'get out of here' for saying that the reigning World Series champs and the team that beat the Tribe in the playoffs last year will be difficult to beat. Both teams have been superior to the Tribe thus far, too. Not sure why you feel you need to badger anyone who doesn't agree with you.

Except that's clearly not what he said at all

I don't badger anyone who disagrees with me. I badger people with terrible takes that it would take a miracle to win in baseball or schtick posters like yourself

If he wants to use hyperbole, he is free to use it. And again, it's no stretch- both are better teams than the Tribe right now. I think you need to calm in the attacks and labels, because if anything is driving posters away it's posts like yours.

It's tiring to read the doom and gloom all the time. If you think this team isn’t the best in baseball that’s fine. I don’t either, but when people pretend like there is just no chance the Indians could win and that’s like half the posters who only show up to make sure everyone knows that we have no chance it gets old. And the same jokes that you make every few days

"Hey guys this game thread is as empty as Progressive Field for a game in April amiright?!?"

Yes, I know you werent. I was trying to get something going in this forum...anything...anything at all. No need for passive aggressive comments about post quality bruh. :chuckle:

But I agree, mostly. With you and Moz. The bullpen has been a huge hindrance, and the offense has had dead periods. Hence why I think some teams have looked far better. It was factual by the way for me to say they have struggled to stay at .500 until recently when they have begun to feast on the awful division. No need to be snide on that account.
