2018 NBA Draft - June 21

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'm starting to fall in love with Shai Gilgeous Alexander the more I do research. His jumper is a little spotty and will use some work to make it cleaner and quicker, but the way he moves on the basketball court reminds me of Rondo. Just the way he cuts, finishes, and dishes the ball. Which his court vision might not be as elite as Rondo's, but his passing is still very good. And his defense above everything looks excellent.

This might be blasphemous, but he reminds me of a Kawhi-like prospect. Still a bit raw offensively, but obvious good instincts and his jumper will only improve. And he could be elite defensively.

Him and Mikal are players that I think could be ready to play right away for a contender like us, obviously without the expectation they need to carry us offensively. But we are still in a position with LBJ where we can't rely on a rookie and we very likely trade the pick so I don't see it happening. But theoretically speaking, I love his potential. He is a player I think would also do very well on the Spurs and I'm sure they would help his jumper improve like they did with Kawhi, but they already have Murray at point so I don't know if that is a priority for them if they seem him as a long term starter.

I love him and wouldn't hesitate to take him at 9 or 10. I think he could be a star potentially, but there might be someone that is more likely at 8. SGA is awesome though and I love how under control he is is and i love his size of course. He's a guy that can play pg and get to the rim well into his career. He does not rely on a great first step or insane speed to get there. He is methodical and has excellent footwork.

I was thinking, what chance is it the Sixers and Celtics try to move up and acquire a top 5 pick or so? Both are loaded with assets and talent. Both also worry me the most in the East far more than any other East team already.

Sixers probably keep Fultz because his value isn't as high as it could be, at the same time, it still should be pretty high. I think they will ride out the season with him, but imagine the possibilities if they could flip him. Doncic on the Sixers is scary if you move Simmons to SF. That is an even more huge team with insane play making. Or Bagley or JJJ at PF. Or if Porter was healthy? Shoot, even the twin towers with Embiid and Bamba would be interesting lol.

I feel like Boston is also pretty set, but I wonder how high of a pick Jaylen Brown could get you. Most of their positions are taken care of unless they want a more traditional big. Like Bagley or JJJ could step in at PF. Or if they really love Bamba, he could take center and you keep Horford at the 4. But is it worth the risk of Brown who has proven to be a good talent. They might rather keep Brown unless they really love someone, but Celtics do like to make plays in the draft.

I’d imagine anyone 5-8 would head to the podium to make a pick for the Celtics in exchange for Brown. They’d have to attach another asset to get in the top 4 IMO.

But Brown is still only 21 and coming off a 15 PPG season where he flashed even more offensive potential with his defensive versatility.

Maybe 5th ish pick is overrating him a bit but mid lottery seems right.

I know I'm slow but wow is this guy electric. Every play he seems to make is big. And it's not just an energy thing. Some of it's instinct. But he is highly skilled.

Man, do I wish we had a mid-late 1st rounder we could keep to add guys like this that could actually stick on the roster and be important role players for us.

I love him. One of my guys.

Like I said, it's a deep ass draft more than it is top heavy. A lot of guys in the top 8 have holes and question marks.

Yea, it's weird. But we are also in a very good position to move up or down in the draft. Which I hope we do. I think we have to be making a trade one way or another.

We need to get in a position where we actually keep and utilize draft picks though. Look at Golden State with Jordan Bell. And they have another late 1st to add another young talent to their rotation and core. A mix of vets is needed, but you also need young guys that are ready to play and provide energy.

Like we could easily find a player in the mid-late 1st who is way more ready to play and contribute to a winner than Clarkson is. And Clarkson was in our rotation. We could probably also find a big in the same range who could contribute more or equal to Tristan.

I will be so mad if we choose Sexton over Shai.

I just hope he’s improved his stock enough so that he doesn’t wind up on Boston or fucking GS.

It seems he has. I'm seeing him go as high as 12-14 and I really don't see him slipping past 18.

I really wish we could get him as a role player. He seems just like a winning type player who can do it all. And not even the 3 and D type, this dude can actually create for himself and others. And he can rebound and play defense. I need to do more research but he is becoming another favorite of mine.

For some reason I really think Boston would want Bruce Brown Jr. Looks like they really value positional size. Somewhat similar player to Marcus Smart actually now that I think about it.

I think GSW really needs shooting. That sounds weird to say, but beyond their key guys their shooting is pitiful... especially their bench unit. Wouldn't surprise me if they just took a wing shooter like Jerome Robinson or Grayson Allen. McCaw looked like he totally lost confidence in his jumper and the Casspi experiment failed pretty badly. Khyri Thomas would be another guy that would work well for them. His lack of size won't be as much of an issue if he has the opportunity to play next to Livingston.

Grayson Allen is the one guy who could take the douche status of GSW to an even higher level.

I honestly hated Mo Bahmba.

But man does his jumper look silky now...

If Musa bulks up to 205-210 (which seems pretty possible given his age), he'd actually be a remarkably similar prospect to MPJ. Agree/disagree?
