2018 NBA Draft - June 21

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
What makes you think Doncic won't be a two way impact player?
Right now, it just doesn’t seem he can really lock guys up. Probably just an OK defender, but good rebounder. And of course he is just 18. But he definitely sets the intensity level when he is in the game, if you watched enough games you can definitely notice how RM starts playing with energy on both ends when he enters. I guess I am not really sure that that works in the NBA. And another part of it is just that I don’t want to hype himself up too much, because his talent is so extraordinary for our nation that I am not really sure what to expect. Just trying to play it cool I guess?

I am white and European and I don’t really like stereotypes about me. We are Slavs anyway, different species.:alc::chuckle:

Kinda concerned with Doncic at the next level. He has no position to guard. He struggles with quick PGs, he struggles with strong 3's and 4's. Thomas was just bullying his way inside against him the other night.

On offense, he is going to struggle to create when facing a switch. This leagye is headed to positionless basketball and you see more and more teams switch the PnR rather than going under or over. When he tries to create 1 on 1 and against a switch he struggles even against European defenders.

His passing is probably the best I have ever seen.. but a good defensive scheme is going to make it a big problem for him at the next level and make his passing less of a factor.

Taking him 1st is crazy to me.

Bagley's jumper is concerning, but the form isn't bad. He moves so effortlessly around the court for a big. It's startling.

Won't really learn anything from this game though. Elon is just physically outmatched.

(Unrelated, but the Shaq of the MAC's kid has a BEAUTIFUL shot)

That euro-step move for the And-1 on the 1 on 3 fast break looked Ginobili-esque. I wish coach K would stop posting up Bagley and Carter and give Bagley more pick and rolls and top of the key touches. It's clear to me that his offensive future is facing up and torching either slower or weaker guys off the dribble.

Bagleys jumper is a positive trait to me if we’re thinking long term.

If he has an elite work ethic, he’s got the general form and he’s got the overall touch and the shooting mindset. The work ethic will be something the FO will have to dig deep into. My buddy in NY is involved in some areas of scouting, particularly the background check/character areas. I will provide as much insight as he will let me because he’s told me
some great things over the years. I hate him now but I was always convinced Curry was a sure thing super star besides the ankles lol.

Porter is the guy I’m watching the closest. On my pre season Big board he’s me tentative #1. I have it filled out to about 25 guys so far , I’ll post it on here later on. But my 5 goes like

1: Porter
2: Ayton
3: Bagley
4: Doncic
5: Bamba

Honorable mention: Myles Bridges, Bruce Brown(I’m higher than most on Brown...have these guys 6/7 atm)

Tough start for MPJ. Played two minutes, then had to leave the game for the rest of the night with a bum hip. Didn't notice anything happen during the game, so it must have been something bothering him since before the season.

Hopefully Bruce Brown is as good as IBWT says he is. That's the range the Cavs will be picking.

Ayton looks to have an incredible upside on the glass, defensively, and in the paint.

I also liked the his FT shoooting was solid how decisively and quickly he threw some passes after rebounds. To me that's an indication that he is engaged and focused while on the court, with a sharp quick mind.

He shot jumpers decisively as well with no hesitation, but as he bricked every one, I can't really list that as a plus.

Everything Ayton did against a presumably much smaller NAU I can see translating against any opponent.

Bagley, a little smaller and a littler more of a big SF/PF body mentality, Id like to see what he does against better sized oppostion.

Well the beautiful thing is that even though the Nets could end up in the 4-8 slot on lottery night, as an unprotected pick in a lottery system, we're still completely justified in looking strongly at the Ayton, Bagley, Porter, and Doncic

We just need to also be fully aware of Bamba, Knox, Bridges, Brown, and Jaren Jackson Jr.

Someone I follow on twitter is a big Knicks guy, but he went to Miami, so he follows the Canes. He's also been pretty good as far as analysis, is as far from a Homer as I've seen. Anyway, he compared Bruce Brown to Avery Bradley, but if AB had the size and could guard the three and initiate if needed. So.... I'm in on that guy.

Putting my couch shot doctor hat on. Bagley has avery fixable shot. On his misses he doesn't get his dominant last had fully behind the ball. Leftys that chamber on the right often have this problem when young and as they fix it see magnitude increases in efficiency. So I expect him to he a solid to good shooter as he ages. I'm impressed with how aggressive he is on a star laden team.
Ayton has amazing athletic traits but his feel for the game has a long way to go. But the ceiling is top 10 big of all time.

I really like bamba's shot mechanics for a guy his size. I know motor is a question mark but I don't know how you develop that nice a release at his size hands without a great work ethic. Watch him shoot and then compare to Drummond and Dwight and you'll see he is the real deal
