2018 NBA Playoffs

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Stealing this from Reddit, but fuck Scott Foster also, how does he get a game 7 assignment?

The records show Donaghy placed 134 calls to referee Scott Foster — more than the 126 calls Donaghy made to his bookie — between October 2006 and April 2007, the period during which he has confessed to either betting on games or passing on game information to gamblers. The majority of the phone calls lasted no more than two minutes and occurred prior to and after games Donaghy officiated and on which he admits wagering.

With the exception of 150 calls Donaghy placed to Thomas Martino, to whom he says he provided “picks” to win games and who was the middleman between the disgraced referee and a bookie named James Battista, the ex-ref phoned no one more than he called Foster. During this period, the most calls Donaghy made to any other referee were 13.

"During the 2006-07 period under investigation, seven games refereed by Scott Foster had lopsided enough betting on one team to move the point spread by at least 2 points; those seven teams were undefeated against Vegas meaning that the big-money gamblers won a 7 of 7 times on Fosters games; the odds of that happening randomly are less than 1%.Statistics alone cannot convict, but its certainly noteworthy that seven times in Fosters games one team was bet extremely heavily, and all seven times that team won."

Not gonna say that the Refs weren't completely fucking shit but the Harden No-calls were only sort-of awful, let's just go through the 4 plays real quick. Keep in mind that I do not have access to replays at the moment and also keep in mind the Harden Rule. This rule being in order for it a shot to be in the act of shooting the player has to have to hands on the ball and in his upward shooting motion.

Play 1: Jorden bell appeared to have contacted Harden near his wrist as well as undercut him on his shot - should have been 3 free throws.

Play 2: Draymond (I think?) reaches over and has his hand on harden's upper arm. Harden, while dribbling, goes up through the contact on the shot. However, the distinction here is he does not properly gather the ball with two hands on it when the contact is made, again classic Harden rule. Now, there was no call at all which is horseshit, but it was not a shooting foul.

Play 3: Now this is the big one that everyone is complaining about. I can't remember who, but again contact was made before Harden properly gathered going into his shot - Harden rule. Good common foul call, it was not an and-1.

Play 4: Can barely remember this play at the moment, honestly. I just remember that it was another Harden rule play that was the correct call and put the Rockets in the Bonus and Harden to the line.

This is how I saw the plays live at least, haven't had the ability to go back in awhile, so perhaps I'm wrong on the timing of one of these plays.

The missed 4-point play was definitely the beginning of the end, but the Rockets still got a two that possession, to go up 11, with 9 minutes left in the third.

What ensued was that stupid possession where the Warriors got 2 offensive rebounds, before Durant drilled a 3. Then Houston bricked a few threes, before Swaggy P hit an open 3 to cut it to 5. A FT and traded baskets, and Houston is still up 61-55, with 5:38 left on the third. Then the floodgates open. Steph 3, Durant 3, Steph 3, and the Warriors lead. Harden makes 2 FTs, and then Steph makes a two and two more 3s to put them up 9. Ball-game. A 17-2 run over the span of 3 minutes. A 25-5 run over the span of 6 minutes. The Rockets continually bricked 3s; the Warriors made theirs. The Rockets were shook. They were taking bad shots. They were out of sorts on defense. They fell apart.

Boston - 7/39 (17%) from 3

Houston - Hold my bricks

Have you seen Kevin's current play? I don't know if i'd call that a win.

Have you seen Draymond’s play? Neither has been good, but at least Love stretches the court and can rebound.

Hou actually wasn’t guarding Draymond at all....just let him float.

If you wanted to get extra aggressive defensively you could also go:

LeBron - Green
Green - KD
Korver - Iggy
Smith - Klay
Hill - Curry

GS is in a funky spot......Draymond as is, is not an offensive threat unless it’s fast break points. He’s awful in halfcourt sets.

That gives the Cavs some versatility options on how they want to attack.

Even if we can hold GS to reasonable levels of scoring, we are going to have a tough time ever making it to 100 points ourselves.

Korver, JR, Hill, Love are going to have to shoot damn near 50% from three in order for us to have a chance.

I mean, I agree for the most part.....but we haven’t ever faced a Draymond Green this hamstrung offensively. He’s a mess. Which is huge.

You sag off Draymond and help onto Durant and Curry....Klay where you can.

Make no mistake, we are huge underdogs, but there are things we can do defensively to take attention off Draymond and focus additional bodies towards KD/Curry.

Ugh. I know local media (I unfortunately live in the Bay Area) has to root for the local guys, but the coverage here is ludicrous.

Their narrative is how the Warriors overcame adversity to rally and beat the Rockets through sheer grit. Not a single mention of how the Rockets were missing an All-NBA point guard.

The Warriors are the most fake, prima-donna schmucks to ever dynasty. Stop with the ball sucking and just come out and say: "Look, ever since Cuck joined us we are all but invincible. So we won, because yet again our opponents lost a key player to injury at just the right moment. Shit, given how good we are it should have never been 3-2. But, in the end, our ludicrous talent won out."

How does this guy still have a job?

How about this....Amongst those players plus green they shoot 60 3's....They should be able to make 20 of those. LeBron gets 35 and between Nance, Clarkson and TT they rack up 20 points. Play solid defense. Hell what do they have to lose.:chuckle::chuckle:

How does this guy still have a job?
Not only does he still have a job, he has one of the highest ranks as far as NBA officials go. He is regularly the lead ref on a lot of games.

From Reddit

"During the 2006-07 period under investigation, seven games refereed by Scott Foster had lopsided enough betting on one team to move the point spread by at least 2 points; those seven teams were undefeated against Vegas meaning that the big-money gamblers won a 7 of 7 times on Fosters games; the odds of that happening randomly are less than 1%.Statistics alone cannot convict, but its certainly noteworthy that seven times in Fosters games one team was bet extremely heavily, and all seven times that team won."

2016 playoffs:

Haralabos Voulgaris on Twitter: "Away team is now 13-0 in the last 13 playoff game Scott Foster has officiated."

2015 playoffs:

Jason Lloyd on Twitter: “Bad news: Scott Foster crew chief tonight. Road team has won his last 11 games.”

And from the players themselves:

In an anonymous survey conducted by the Los Angeles Times in January, Foster was voted the worst referee in the NBA by several players and coaches.

Rockets home playoff record 2018:

Non-Scott Foster games: 7-0

Scott Foster games: 0-3

Just think how crazy this is, they 0-3 at home with him being ref and 7-0 when he’s not the ref, and when you watch the game you can clearly see why and how that happened.

I always wondered why those refs have that beeper like device on their waist band. I guess you could argue that when it vibrates that tells them they should call an officials time out or tv timeout, but how do I not know that device doesn't vibrate every time the league office wants them to blow the whistle? That beeper device has always been shady to me.
