2018 NBA Playoffs

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
That still shouldn't matter though. For the life of me I never understood how anyone can watch this Cavs team at any point in the last 7 years and have the nerve to get picky on the character of any potential pickups as if we don't have the most drama filled team in the league.

That's exactly why the character of pickups is questioned. The culture here is not one to help reign those guys in. The Cavs' drama-filled culture exacerbates those concerns.

JR Smith looked to be the exception for a little bit, but we saw that fall out pretty quick.

Yea I'm not doing that.

Nor am I sure how we're getting any of those three guys.

I wouldn't want to do that either. I don't wanna trade Kevin Love. I'm just saying if we do trade him we should keep the BKN pick. I like CJ but he's really the third best player on a Championship team. He shouldn't command the BKN pick. Neither should Beal. I think Love is enough for both players since he fills a need for both teams. My post was based mainly on the BKN pick hitting in the top 5 so there's a lot of luck involved.

I just don't think we should trade Love and the BKN pick since there isn't a team out there that would give us enough back in return.

Well I guess I feel like since we're all ready so far down the path we might as well be all in and not play onesies and twosies.

Don't you think the experiment with guys like IT and Crowder showed that it can in fact still get worse?

I think it showed that you can't operate in fear of how bad it might get when you're doing everything you can to win a championship.

How? The Cavs operated under that mentality and then the locker room imploded worse than imaginable.

Actually it was quite predictable that our locker room would've ended up how it did. We knew about what IT's teammates said about him in all his previous stops. We knew about Derrick Rose and his off court dramas. We knew that Crowder had beef with JR and his fiancee was Derrick Rose high school sweetheart. We knew that Wade was a vey strong minded opinionated voice in the locker room and we saw what he did playing for his hometown Bulls. We knew JR Smith wouldn't gladly accept coming off the bench for a player he thinks he's better than. We knew IT was playing for a big payday. We knew about TT and his Kardashian drama. We knew about Shump and his off court drama. We knew how important having voices like RJ and Channing Frye in the locker room was.

We knew all of that. Literally none of that was a surprise so we really can't sit back and say gee that's a real shocker that this didn't work out.

And I didn't even mention any of LeBron's drama that we know he thrives in.

Okay. So, again, why would it be good to knowingly bring locker room issues into this locker room? You seem to be arguing against your own earlier point now...

No I'm saying we can't assume that players are gonna be an issue here.

I'm not sure how we can put together a better regular season team than BOston is gonna roll out there.

And I think that's the team we need to look at when trying to keep LeBron. FOrget Golden State, how do we beat BOston next year. Need guys who can attack Kyrie and guys who can exploit the fact that Horford, as good as he is defensively, is still small and can be bullied.

But right now, you're looking at a Boston team that has Al Horford as its 5th best player next year. That's crazy.

They've definitely got a GS-lite budding there in BOS, but the difference between them and GS is that the latter team came together as vets. Once Hayward and Smart come back, will there be enough shots for them plus Irving, Rozier, Tatum, Brown, and Horford?

Stevens is a superb XOs coach, but I want to see how he does in terms of culture building. Can he get them all to buy in?

Also this was good writing from a Blazers blog following their G3 loss.

Excellent post . Sadly our GM turned a blind eye to all you mentioned. He has zero instincts of what best for the team and only uses stats.

I’m at the point now where I wanna see Pelicans vs Warriors

I said in my player rankings that it goes

LeBron
KD
AD/Kawhi depending on who's healthy. AD is healthy and he's very clearly the 3rd best player in the league. I remember when people were taking Giannis over him smh. AD is the fucking truth. He's still got like 4 more years until he starts peaking too.

Agreed !! Excellent point..

I’m a huge Brad Stevens fan. Obviously most of us can see and respect his ability to coach. I’m intrigued to see if he can coach a team with much better star talent ?

Same thing kinda happened with Spolestra.. He started out his first couple years coaching a team to mid 40’s in wins and then got a star studded super team and his coaching ability kinda took a back seat whereas now you can see he’s a damn good coach with little to work with...

Same thing with Snyder in Utah.. He’s been very impressive. Stevens and Snyder were really good college coaches as well. Makes me intrigued to see if Jay Wright could do the same?

Also it can cast a light on just how average a coach is as well.. Rick Carlisle has been touted as one of the best in the game for years but that’s only when he’s had above average/all star talent.. Even tho he plays younger guys, you don’t quite see the development of those guys like you do under some of these other coaches...

He’s been amazing and is the biggest mismatch for sure... However, it’s Celtic-Rondo and his ability to control the pace of the game is what I’m most intrigued with in the series...
