2018 NFL SEASON Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The temperature apparently could get below 10 degrees in KC on game day and the wind chill could make it feel like -19 degrees or some crap. Like a historically cold game.

That could give a big advantage to the Patriots imo. If it turns into a ground and pound, we don't have good run D and you diminish our biggest weapon, which is passing. And I expect Arrowhead to still be full, but that is going to detract a lot of people from going to the game in that weather.

Nature's deflategate.
Don’t kid yourself buddy. KC by 2tds or more, then they roll into the SB and win it too.

I wouldn’t sleep on Brady and BB. Those guys have performed really fucking well against playoff teams this year.

I’m leaning Chiefs and Saints... but I’m close on Chiefs-Patriots.

I just remember BB running an entirely different defensive scheme every playoff game when he was with the Giants. I remember how he had teams prep for a 3-4 all season, and then switched to a hybrid scheme in the early 2000s postseasons.

I also remember that Tom Brady was a sixth round pick. Love or hate the guy, historically, he responds unbelievably well to adversity.

I think Patriots will be ready. BB is a better and more versatile coach than Reid (and Reid is phenomenal). Chiefs are more talented, but, I just don’t know what’ll happen.

I think Gronk has to show up. They still are lacking explosive plays in the passing game.

They had I think one and it was to Gronk.

Brady looked great last Sunday. I think he missed a few throws a 41 year old QB can no longer make. But his arm looked better. Made some vintage tight throws into tight coverage.

I never felt confident in Rivers beating Brady. I just think one QB is still clearly better than the other.

And I like Rivers, make no mistake.

I still go back to that the Pats struggle on the road. And I can't even recall the last time they won a big playoff game on the road.

If it was in NE, I'd have no doubt they're going to the SB.

I think it's going to be close and KC gets by.

But yeah, you can't ever completely write these two off. They haven't won 5 Super Bowls on accident.

We stopped them pretty well in the previous matchup and that was with Hunt playing. Without a kick renturn to the goalie and a fumble we hold them to under 30 points.

The question is how will they stop us. Brady will light them up like a Christmas tree than you add in Sony who’ll more than likely rush for 100yd +. Bosa/Ingram couldn’t get to brady don’t see how a weaker Dline does.

Different buildings.

I don't even think its about QB match ups. I just think one team has more explosive players, and the other doesn't.

Gronk can't be a no show.

It'd be silly to give NE no chance. Because Tom Brady and Belichick are great.

I think Tom Brady will have to be best ever Brady, to even have a chance. He's got to make up for so much his team doesn't have.

And Mahomes isn't going to play like crap like Rivers.

It'll be impressive if he pulls it off. I just don't see it, even if he's great.

Yeah, it would be pretty foolish to sleep on the Patriots. And it's a big task for a first year starter to match up against such experience and perform under this pressure.

The pressure of not just the AFC championship game itself, but breaking the curse of past franchise playoff failure, bringing home a trophy that has our founders name on it (which the Chiefs media has been making a big deal of), and not being to the Super Bowl since 1970.

That is a ton to ask of a 23 year old kid regardless of how talented he is. The Patriots are going to be comfortable, no pressure to them. They do this in their sleep. They have seen it all and know what to expect.

And all these people pointing to the Patriots not playing well on the road just makes me feel like they are now poised to have a great game on the road.

If it was a shootout type game, I'd be pretty confident in Mahomes against anyone. But Patriots are smart. They are going to pick apart our defense with short passes and control the clock and time of possession. That is the key for any team to beat us. And it will be tougher if you sit for a long time on the sidelines in the freezing cold.

The Chiefs defense will have to step up again and continue to over perform expectations.

Nature's deflategate.

Keep in mind that Arrowhead has a $2 million heating system under the grass that keeps the field from going under 32 degrees. There have been single digit degree games in the past that have shown field temperatures in the 50’s. The thing that could lead to a true ground game is lots of snow during the game (which could also happen).

Tom Brady sure feels confident. Singing along to 50 cent like a total nerd. But, usually when he's that loose... He feels pretty confident.

He's probably going to have a monster game. It is hard to beat him when he gets hot. But I still just don't see the Pats defense holding up.

Hell, they couldn't hold up to Foles last year. And Brady was pretty much flawless in that game. Literally one play, that strip sack fumble was the difference.

That's how I see it playing out. I just think the Chiefs can make one more play defensively compared to the Pats.

Just like the first deflategate both balls will be deflated but the fools that listen to ESPN and fucking goodell won’t care. Do people even realize colts balls were deflated too did the pats do that

How is KC gonna stop NE with a bad run game and a mediocre defense. Gronk doesn’t even need to be Gronk Sony will run wild and we’ll eat clock. They were gonna have a hard time stopping brady as is now add a run game.

Atleast we have a secondary to match them and dare them to run

I am starting to see the case for the Rams’ defense being able to stop the Saints’ offense.

The Saints always have a strong interior because, historically, the only way to slow Brees is to get interior pressure without blitzing. This year is no different. Saints are missing one of their best interior blockers now too.

The reason why is that Brees likes stepping up into the pocket to get the ball downfield. If you can collapse the interior than Brees cannot do that.

Donald and Suh are talented enough to collapse the Saints’ interior line. They’ll double Michael Thomas and force Brees to throw downfield.

Saints will need Kamara and Ingram to have big games.

Because you're not going to beat a team in this day and age, running the ball? :chuckle:

You're acting like I'm making a case NE isn't going to move the ball and score.

Maybe weather affects everything.

Given it doesn't, I'm going on the fact KC is just much more explosive.

Mahomes threw for 50 tds. He's not crap. He's going to score at will on the Pats defense.

There's too many mismatches KC has on offense. Bill might take one away, but cant take them all away.

I don't think they have anyone to match up with Hill. And Gilmore on him is laughable. If he's on him single coverage he's going to get burned.

NE has been better defensively when they've paired him up on single coverage of the best receiver and doubling the second best guy.

This strategy won't work.

Why would be single coverage on hill put Jackson/McCourty on him than have Gilmore erase Watkins

And teams still win running the ball but that not the point. It’s that running the ball will give us TOP I’ll easily go in a shootout with them having Brady but we can just run while brady still does his thing

Then again espn has people thinking mahomes can walk on water

I'm confident in the Chiefs ability. But Brady really does seem to have a look in his eyes like he wants to shut people up. I don't know what is going to happen but Brady seems to be giving more attitude than usual so I expect him to be at his very best.

Edit- To add, if Chiefs lose, I think it will be because the Patriots have overwhelming experience and won't make many mistakes. And if Mahomes finally has a rookie type mistake game and our defense looks bad again. Or a combo.

I love how Damien Williams has stepped up, but he is no Kareem Hunt. But can they game plan well for Watkins when he has missed a lot of games and hasn't seen much game time? Because they will have to dial in on Kelce and Hill. So Williams and Watkins need big games imo.

Eric Berry is also back, but will he be a difference maker? In fact, could he hurt the team since he has been out so long?

There are many question marks. But I'm pretty sure Brady will be at his best. I think it will be a close one.
