2018 NFL SEASON Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Man, if i was a pro i swear i'd never leave the house. These bitches are dying for some shit like this to happen, making it happen even. Obviously you need to exhibit some self control, but damn . . . Also, old girl look kinda fine . . .

I mean, 99% of athletes never have any issues with women, so maybe we shouldn't blame the victims here and instead blame the idiots who lack the self control to not hit them.

I'm also not really sure what the woman involved gets out of this. She doesn't own that footage, so she's not the one making money off of it.

Nobody knows all of what happens. Jumping to any conclusion at this point is foolhardy. Victim here, should be put in quotes, you saw the video, it's pretty hard to claim innocence. Victim, c'mon man.

Regardless of what she said to him, she was the victim. That doesn't mean she didn't deserve any of what she got, but he shoved her first. He got physical and escalated a verbal conflict. He shoved a guy into her and then kicked her while she was down and dazed. There's just no excuse for that, and it's sad that people here are actually defending him.

Not surprising, given where we're at as a country, but sad.

Dude could have easily just thrown her out of his room and laughed at her words, however hurtful they may have been. At the end of the day, he's the pro athlete set to make millions and she's just a girl. Instead, he got dumb and he went after her, and it probably cost him those millions. All you need to do is watch how his friends react in the video to know he fucked up. They were doing everything in their power to stop him from ruining his career, but he wasn't smart enough to listen to them.

Do you actually need to own the footage in order to have a case? To me this seems like the same exact scenario as the Ray Rice thing. I.E. Kareem is FUCKED . . .

Not sure what "where we are as a country" has to do w/ it. We have no idea what happened in the room, nor the hallway, we have when the camera picked up and that's it. Ray Rice him if he deserves it in the end, but pardon me if I don't believe in guilty till proven innocent.

You don't need to own the footage to have a case, but you need to own it to make money from selling it. As far as I know she's not taking him to court here.

I'm sorry, but there is literally zero chance that Kaep is worse than about half the backup QBs in the league.

There is a demand relationship you are ignoring. Starting quality quarterbacking is in short supply. You can put up with all the negative that comes with Kaepernick from a business standpoint if he is a top 15 QB. There is a different demand relationship with backup QBs, especially those with a low ceiling. Kaepernick had proven that he isn't playable in bad weather and he isn't starting material in good weather because he never developed touch or field vision/anticipation as a passer. Passers like those are everywhere. I certainly enjoy the crossroads of sport and politics, but Kaepernick marketed himself as a failed QB so brilliantly people forget that the league figured him out about five years ago.

Yeah, I think you know exactly what I mean, but that's an argument for the politics section.

The thing is, we don't need to know what happened in the room. What we see on the video is enough to showcase that he assaulted her. That's all we need to know he fucked up. Maybe she said something terrible, but there's just no real justification for going at her like that, and then kicking her while she's on the ground and dazed. As a professional athlete, you have to be smarter than that, and as I pointed out in my previous post, all of his friends clearly knew he was being a fucking idiot, as they were trying desperately to get him into his hotel room and stop costing himself millions.

As far as Ray Rice goes, I don't think Hunt deserves to be banned from the league for this. What he did was objectively not as bad as what Rice did. Ray Rice landed a haymaker on his girlfriend, her head hit the railing in the elevator, and she was knocked unconscious, at which point he dragged her unconscious body out of the elevator. What Hunt did is nowhere near that bad. He deserves a suspension, probably six games given the history of similar suspensions. He'll get it, he'll serve it, and then someone else will likely sign him.

Okay, but if you're the Jags, what the fuck do you have to lose? Blake Bortles is not the answer. Your backup is a guy Hue Jackson ruined. You're trying to win now. Why the fuck not?

Actually never leaving his building might actually be the problem. I bet Hunt never left his building. The 9 has 3 or 4 bars/clubs in the building. Just an elevator ride up or down to his place.

Manziel lived in the same building. Njoku and Coleman did too whenever the incident with their roommate happened.

I agree he'll get a suspension, but to be cut by KC? That only happens because of the social consequences of litigating through the court of public opinion.
Unlike Kaep, he has skill.

Sounds like he got cut by Kansas City because he lied to them about what happened. They saw the video and it didn't match with what he told them.

Or, at least, that's what they are saying. But I'm pretty sure that, when this thing came up earlier this year, Hunt said he never laid hands on her, which we know now is obviously a lie.

Interesting if that's what's coming out. That'd be a poor choice to be dishonest about it. 23 year old Pro Bowl Running Back on a rookie contract though? Ya, I'd pick him up.

Yooo, yeah this building. I saw Tito on his scooter outside of this building on opening day 2 years ago. Didn't know it was a spot . . .

Most people tend to downplay their fuck-ups.

The problem is when you lie and then video evidence drops a few months later to refute it.

Either way, we have no need for Hunt and should stay the fuck away. Our team doesn't need the drama and we already have a stud RB plus a top-tier receiving back. Also, you can find backs as good as Hunt in the draft literally every year. Spencer Ware's about to step in and give the exact same production as Hunt, and he's JAG. Hunt is a decent talent but at the end of the day any Andy Reid RB1 is going to produce.

but Kaepernick marketed himself as a failed QB so brilliantly people forget that the league figured him out about five years ago.

That is indeed the point people forget.

I mean Blaine Gabbert is...bad. Yet...he was benched for him.

So that's literally what people are asking for. A guy that couldn't beat our Blaine Gabbert.

I don't disagree, but is what she said really any worse than the racist stuff Josh Allen was posting on Twitter a few years ago? He just got drafted in the top ten.

Ray Lewis at the time...was sticking up for him and actually trying to get him signed by the Ravens FO.

While this was going on behind the scenes? His girlfriend shoots that tweet out and that was that.

It's a bad look. Especially with how highly Lewis is thought of within that organization and that city. Again...they have covered his ass for many years even though he pretty much murdered two dude.

With Allen? I don't know. One would have to assume that his attitude had changed since he was a high school kid and (more than likely) had african american teammates. i imagine research was done on his background and nothing came up in recent years.
