2018 Preseason Game #3 | Pacers @ Cavaliers | October 8th, 2018 @ 7:00 PM

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Hill is dead meat.
Hill + Sexton together = complete mess.
I never thought this was a good idea. Never.

The starting lineup should be Sexton OR Hill, Hood, Cedi, Love, Nance OR TT OR Zizic

Hill is getting a LOT of open looks that he’s just not converting

Hill has been such a disappointment since we acquired him. Even with LeBron, guy just hasn't made anywhere near the shots he's meant to be capable of making. Don't like the balance with him and Sexton together, for what it's worth. I know it's because of the pre-season OUTs, but I don't really want to see them together on the floor in the regular season.

Preston is somehow getting worse with each game he plays.

Contract year JR Smith is better than ANY version of Rodney Hood.

Jr deserves to be in the starting 5.. Very efficient play for the last 2 games.

This is normal for just about ANY learning curve you watch. Put a player in a drastically new environment, and their skills will likely regress for a short period of time. Given that the kid barely played in college and only a handful of games overseas, he's going to need a year at minimum to get used to this level of play. At best, he'll finish this year getting up to speed in the D League.

I think JR and Sexton together would be a perfect fit. A secondary ball handler for Sexton and a decent shooter.

Also, Preston is flat out awful.

I think he's just playing within himself, not forcing things.
For sure, but that's NOT what this team needs from him.

We will need him to transition into being a player who CAN force things when the game calls for it. We will need him to enforce his will on the game. That's the key difference between a role player and an all-star. If Cedi wants to make the jump to that level of play, then he will need to learn to effect the game rather than "playing within himself."

Now, I might be over analyzing a preseason game, and there's nothing wrong with him playing within himself during the preseason.

Our team is still really deep, but unless Sexton or Cedi become a "go to" scorer we will struggle to win tight games down the stretch. Unless, of course, Love decides to be "fat Kevin" again.

I hope we trade George Hill and TT soon. We just don't need either of them.

But I'm not sure any other NBA team does, too. Ugh.

We need Fraudney Hood to turn into that second option. Cedi's game is probably a year off from being able to do that, and I'm not expecting a ton out of Sexton this season. He needs to work on his shot mechanics.

If all goes well, Love will probably average around 22-23 PPG, so we'll definitely need that secondary guy that puts up around 16-17 if this team actually does want to try to make the playoffs this season. George Hill is just a season or two removed from being a good scorer, but he looks horrible and will probably be out of here around the deadline anyways.

I'm glad Lue decided to go with pace. This team is still a mess in the half court. Without a guy like Love on the floor, all offense has to be manufactured.

It's one of the biggest reasons why I prefer Zizic to Thompson. Zizic will give you a lot of points on easy baskets. This team needs that. Desperately.
