2018 Trade Deadline

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
With all the chatter about Mejia not wanting to play the OF and some of the recent comments made by the FO and Tito, I'm starting to come around on the idea that he could be in play at the deadline.

Maybe not for bullpen help or a rental piece-- ROI would likely be too low for a top-10 prospect-- but maybe a package for both?

I really wouldn't mind if the Indians kicked the tires on the idea of Mejia for someone like Nimmo or Conforto-- a young Major Leaguer that fits within that Lindor/Ramirez timeframe.

In a way I do not want to lose Mejia's bat, but at the same time, I feel with all the reports over the last year about his personality towards certain things, it wouldn't surprise me if we move him in the right deal as well. If we can get a future closer back for him to help us out now, we may have to take it depending on what else we give up with him.

Billy Hamilton's name being brought up is interesting. I think he's more of the defense-first kind of outfielder that would fit our roster well. Allen and Davis haven't been putting up good CF numbers, or hitting.

We already have enough CFs in the organization who are excellent defensively and on the basepaths but can't hit in Zimmer and Allen. Hard pass on Billy Hamilton.

Jeff Passan was just on 92.3 and said that he heard from one source that the Tribe and Brewers are the front runners for Machado. He also said that he believes an offer of Nolan Jones and Yu Chang would “probably get it done” to acquire Machado.

Man, I really dont want to give up Jones....but OTOH, Machado is so damn good....

This is a very doable package to match for the Indians.

If I were offered a package of Yu-Cheng Chang and Eli Morgan, prospects of that caliber for two months of Machado is definitely doable.

If all Baltimore is asking for is a good blocked IFer and a guy who projects as a mid-rotation guy, we have that in bunches.

I decided I dont want Machado strictly because rentals suck. But it definitely woukd depend on what was going out.

My thing is that adding him is nice but it isnt even the main area of concern. They need to address the bp in a potentially major way

^^^ Well yea but if you could get Machado for that potential package you could still get controllable relievers and an outfielder for what you thought it might cost...

You put your team in the best possible situation to win the World Series this year and keep your window open to win another few years...

I swear if they don’t maximize this opportunity it’s just a waste...

Rosenthal also said the Dodgers wouldn't move either of those guys for Machado.

Brewers haven't included Burnes who is supposedly the guy the O's want.

The O's best offer is Brett Phillips and Luis Ortiz.... and I like Chang better than both those guys. Ortiz is ok but he's one cheesesteak away from being Bartolo Colon level fat and the shine has worn off Phillips.

Do you believe that the Indians can get this done? What would be your percentage on adding Manny Machado?
