I'm amazed with how much Mejia has struggled offensively so far.

Playing once every 3 games or so is probably not the best thing for a young hitter with minimal MLB experience while he is going through a rough patch. I haven't seen any at bats, but being that he is hitting pretty sparingly, I would assume he is pressing everytime he steps up to the plate.

It is pretty remarkable that the Yankees are 17-11 with all the injuries they have sustained
  • Andjuar, Didi, Hicks, Bettances and Severino have yet to play; Stanton hasn't played yet in April; Tulo hasn't played since April 3
  • Sanchez missed 11 games in mid-April
  • Frazier has missed the last 6 games, Judge the last 8, Bird the last 14
  • LeMahieu and Urshela left Sunday's game early, although it seems like they'll be OK

Was thinking the same thing yesterday. I wonder how long they can sustain it if some of those guys are out another month. It is a nice sight to see Boston struggle so much. It probably wont last but i will enjoy it while it does.

Cody Bellinger is Ted Williams right now. Only 1 month of the season but nobody can get him out. .

Seattle, first 17 games:
13-4
+36 run differential (124 - 88)

Seattle, latest 16 games:
5-11
-34 run differential (65-99)

They have been outscored 7-46 in their last 4 games

I believe they're on pace to commit the most errors in history, or something like that.

But they're a pretty good matchup with this team who doesn't consistently put the ball in play.

Try to talk me off the ledge here. The Indians have been excellent in the past, especially the past 2 seasons, at putting the ball in play. Looking at strikeout rate from 16-present:

2016- 20.2%, 11th
2017- 18.5%, 2nd
2018- 18.9%, 1st
2019- 26.1%, 27th

Being that low on the list is even more concerning considering the team boosts the 29th worst slugging percentage in the league. The Yankees can live with being bottom 10 in strikeout rate when they are hitting more home runs that anyone. This was always a great strength to our lineup as being a team that doesn't strike out and walks well (at least the 2nd part is still true).

What is a realistic expectation to expect from this offense going forward? And I know we are one month in, Jose has struggled mightily, Lindor just returned, etc. Just struggling to see how this lineup comes together to be a legitimate threat.

I think we will go and get another bat sometime this season, and I think the SO % will go down as the season progresses. We started off on a really, really bad note and now guys like Stamets, Hanley etc are in the minors/released. Also we do need to get Martin out against LH hitters more often since he still hasn't shown the ability to hit them, .821 OPS against right handers and a .390 against lefties.

So the Twins are 19-10 and the media has jumped full aboard the Twins train. I just dont see how they sustain that all season. To me their roster is very meh. Especially their SP outside of Berrios. We shall see. Looks like winning the division will not be a cakewalk this year though.

Twins dont have any depth in their rotation, so we will beat them that way, but their lineup is better than ours at the moment, so to over take them, we need Ramirez, Lindor etc to become the players they have been in years past.

Agree about the lineup. The Nelson Cruz pickup was a good one.

I think they are for real- they have a very deep lineup with a lot of power. We will see how the rotation does, they will rely on Gibson and Odorizzi

I guess i was just going by what their lineup accomplished last year with the only major addition being Cruz. Marwin, but hes been pretty bad. Buxton is back and has been playing fairly well. They will get some injuries to. Maybe this will make our regular season a little more spicey. A dogfight with the Twins.
