2019 Around the MLB

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The only real complaint I have about departures is Yandy Diaz. That looks like a really big miss on the part of both Tito and the FO.

Everything else was expected, and the Gomes trade actually looks like they got out in front of the major decline unlike Kipnis.

The biggest issue with the offseason was not adding a legitimate outfielder.

Gomes is still a good catcher regardless, but we needed to make the move at the end of the day.

I don't think anyone who was a big Yandy fan expected the power numbers he has had so far. I was expecting 10-15 with like an OPS though of like .800ish still, but that was more in the way of a lot of doubles and walks.

I think we will make some type of move for an OF. I am actually hoping (like some other people) we go get Eaton from the Nationals. He is also an Ohio native as well so bring him back to Ohio! Also I think we will make a move for one of the Giants bullpen arms (Smith, Watson LHP, Vincent RHP).

Jesus Aguilar had a breakout year in 2017 and crushed it in 2018. This year is not helping his arbitration case at .204 / .307 / .324.

Did we really ever give him enough of a chance? The most PA he had was 38 in 2014.

I think we gave Yandy enough of a chance, but it seems some guys just need the comfort of spring training and a daily spot in the lineup to produce.

He's been really good for Milwaukee at the end of the day. I feel we didn't give him enough time, but sometimes a player getting cut also wakes them up to, so it is really hard to say if we kept him if we would have produced the same. We went and got EE cause we were looking to win, so in a rebuilding type of situation, we would have kept Aguilar, but in that scenario, we cannot go with the unknown over the proven guy in that type of situation.

We all knew what Yandy would be, which is a solid hitter with so-so range in the field. We didn't expect the power numbers though.

I know Michael Brantley could always hit. But what is it with all the players going to Houstion and suddenly have career, monster years? Brantley is on pace for darn neer 40 Hrs. Did he ever come close to that with us? There must be some strange shit in the water down there in Houston.

Not sure if the numbers bear this out, but my theory is that Brantley has always been great at taking the ball the other way, and the short porch in left field in Houston is very favorable toward that approach. He's also hitting right in the middle of a monster lineup, so teams can't pitch around him at all.

Yesh, you are probably correct. Just all the cheating accussations down there always makes me wondet.

It looks like only one of his homers was opposite field, 342 feet @ LAA. His exit velocity and hard hit % are slightly down; launch angle slightly up.

Brantley had 9 at the end of May last year, and only hit 8 more in the next 4 months. He'll probably eclipse his career high of 20, but I don't expect him to keep up this pace.

I haven't heard much in the way of cheating accusations regarding offensive players down here, though.

I absolutely believe their pitchers doctor the ball. The spin rates don't lie.

Probably talking about doctoring the ball rumors and the fact they got caught cheating in the playoffs. Just so happen to get smoked after they got caught.

Yeah, but the playoff stuff was mostly just sign stealing, right?
