2019 Browns Off Season/Roster Discussion

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Go ahead and break it all down

He's talking about building a culture of players and coaches who want to win. How important the history of the Browns are. Competition across the board at every position, between the offense and defense. Making each other better. Never satisfied. Pass rush was a big thing he wanted to improve.

Pretty vanilla interview, but Buddy Boy is a great interview regardless. He just gets it.

I am going to be blunt, I am pretty high on Kush. For a guard, he seems to have allot of swag, he might be a back up, but he is not green, he is a vet. Dorsey did a good job weeding through cheap linemen for depth. Now you always need a joint decision from both management and the player, but clearly Dorsey doesn't want to get caught holding the bag.

The issue is Hunt is way to good of a pass catcher to keep Duke. To me I wait for the suspension and see how long it is, but I would not keep Duke if its 6 games or less.

One thing I think everyone needs to remember is that it may not be financially viable to keep Hunt after this year. Yeah, he's dirt cheap now, but if he comes back and has no issues for the rest of the year, someone might be inclined to pay him next spring.

Depending on his suspension, he's likely to either be an ERFA or a RFA.

Thus, if it's ERFA, he's ours for cheap. If it's RFA, slap a decent tender on him and if he signs a large deal, smile and be glad we got a 2nd rounder out of him.

I think because of the suspension coming, we control him next year too, but then he is gone, don't see Hunt and Chubb on the same team long term, but Duke is about to get a bit more expensive...5 mill a year, and is a free agent in 3 years.

So why keep and piss off Duke with no carries for most of 2 years just for an extra year of control at 5 million when we can get something of value for him now.

Soooooo....reading between the lines?

I think the Giants knew that they were in for a rebuild, are going to have to draft a QB and probably figured it would be best to ship off Odell for assets.

Which is great for us because our "rebuild" is nearing it's end stages.

The Giants probably thought they could delay it a year with an aging Eli throwing to a disgruntled Odell and a young Barkley.

They can't really delay it much longer.
