2019 Browns Off Season/Roster Discussion

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Pretty expensive bridge.

This dynamic makes it particularly amusing. More hilariously, perhaps he thinks Flacco needs that “change of scenery.”

Lamar Jackson still kinda scares me to be honest. Some are already writing him off, but who knows how he will look with an entire off-season as the #1 guy.
During the 7 games he started, he had 119 rushing attempts and was sacked 15 times.

If you throw out the sacks, 119 attempts per games equates to 272 attempts for the full year. If you add in the sacks and extrapolate for a full season, you get 306 times he was a ball carrier.

Zeke lead the NFL in carries with 304 and Barkley was 2nd with 261. So for a full season, we got as many attempts as either the #1 or #2 RB in the entire league.

Now, of course he avoided some hits by sliding or running out of bounds more than a RB would. But he also takes some hits on passes he attempted as well. So I think saying his workload was at least on par with a top 10 back is accurate.

I don't see him being effective enough for 16 games with all those hits. Baltimore has to have him run less. He can still be a running threat, and he should be, but not at that clip, IMO.

I agree. Lamar can pass, not Baker level, but with his legs and the passing, he is a weapon.

He's not really a good passer at all.

His ability to run has undoubtedly inflated his passing stats. His warts start bursting all over the place when a team is able to take away his legs (like the playoff game vs. the Chargers).

He won't be able to sustain so many hits with the amount of running he is doing, and teams will also be better prepared to deal with his legs due to having tape and that offense being gimmicky. He also heavily depended on a top 2 elite defense which may not be the same next year due to age and contracts.

Point: Ravens could be much worse if Lamar doesn't significantly improve as a passer (I haven't seen anything to make me believe he will, but I could be wrong).

I am not saying Lamar is a good passer, but he isn't Tebow who couldn't pass. Lamar can pass, he isn't overly accurate, but he has arm strength. With his legs he is a weapon. Is he a top 10 QB? I am not sure on that.

And for the record, I feel going forward within 2 years or so when Brees and Brady finally hang it up, Baker and Mahommes will be the elite qb's of the league. I have a hard time saying Baker will be better than Mahommes, but he will be right there and I have seen more from Baker's rookie season than Luck or some of the other great rookie qb's. So don't get what I say about Lamar twisted, but with a top defense and a good running game, Lamar is good enough to lead Ravens to a Super bowl, remember Flacco did this before.

You just described young Colin Kaepernick. Kaepernick got by with a strong inaccurate arm, but what killed his career wasn't politics... He didn't learn to read a defense. He would take off running if the first throw wasn't there. I saw a lot of that once Jackson and the Ravens got to the playoffs. If a quarterback doesn't adjust to eventually read a defense and deliver an accurate ball to second or third options, the defenses will eventually catch up and shut the offense down.

Thank goodness Ray Farmer and Mike Pettine drafted Justin Gilbert instead.

No, is that true? Did Gilbert get drafted before Odell? I know we traded down, are you saying if we didn't trade down?

OBJ went 12th. Even with trade back Gilbert went 8th

Picks 5-17 all made the pro-bowl at least once. All except pick 8.

What the fuck is up with those #8 pick's? I'm looking at you too Collin Sexton. We're doomed.

Thanks, I was going to look that up. I didn't need to know that.

Messing up early 1st round picks sets organizations back so much, and it happens about 50% of the time.

Number 17 overall is high enough that Dorsey has to get that pick decently right, but even the 2nds and 3rds and 4ths he only has to hit on about 50% for it to be a good draft if he picks up 1 late round pick that is useful, not even a starter.

But wow thinking back we ruined so many 1st round picks.

Think of how different this team is because we nailed the first round the last 2 years. Baker, Ward, Myles, Peppers and Njoku are all either pro bowl or should make a pro bowl players.

That is our cornerstone and the other rounds have provided very good depth and quality players along with some free agents and trades....but the 1st round is our base.

Club level season tickets are around $1500 per ticket for 10 games

Upper level near 50 yard line are only around $600 for 10 games.

Thinking about pulling the trigger on something

Good god Gilbert busted so hard. Out of the league before he even got to his second contract.
