2019 Draft Prospects Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I will say that I hope that if/when we go DT, we don't pick one of those large, slow, run stuffing big men. That archetype of player is just being phased out in today's NFL, and I'd rather we get a smaller DT that excels in interior pass rush if if given the choice between the two types.

How teams do in today's NFL is all tied to the pass game, both passing and defending the pass. If that means we'll be gashed now and then by the run, then that's a small price to pay.

Edit: the fact that we traded away Danny Shelton makes me think that Dorsey and co agree with it.

Wholeheartedly agree.

No run pluggers. If you're a defensive lineman and you can't consistently beat 1 on 1 blocks, I'm just not interested.

Do we really need another safety if Randall and Peppers continue to play like they have been?

I think if we got a safety like Thompson, proficient in both coverage and run support, Peppers could be moved to a hybrid LB/S role (with Collins likely gone) that he played in college, giving the defense more flexibility and improving the secondary's coverage ability.

Just give me the best player available.

Elite talent, worry about fit and schematics later.

Unless that is a QB. This is how great teams get to that elite level. Draft the best player not what your need is!

Shelton ran a 5.6 in the 40. Drafting a three tech with plus size isn't a problem if they can also move. Dexter Lawrence is intriguing, for instance, because he is expected to run under a five second 40.

Rashan Gary: is the production matching the perceived talent?

Do you trust this coaching staff to find the right fit if we drafted someone like that?

Not really. He's been dinged up a bit so far, but decent overall. I don't think, as of right now, that he's living up to his preseason top 10 pick.

Still a 1st round talent, but hasn't quite turned into that "elite" player

Yeah - feel we really need a nice, young, big WR in the draft.

Best UFA WR next year are:

Funchess
Enunwa
Beasley
Hogan
John Brown
Golden Tate
Moncrief
Cobb
Fitzgerald
Tyrell Williams

I’d send over a mid rounder for Tate now tbh as insurance.

I don't trust this coaching staff to tie their shoes without shitting themselves. But it's irrelevant, because I don't expect this coaching staff to be employed next year.

John Brown would be a very intriguing option to pair with Mayfield, especially if Callaway continues to suck ass.

I like Funchess a lot too, and he's incredibly underrated as a receiver. He'd fit a need here too, as we could use a big-bodied WR.
