2019 Minor League Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I believe Daniel Johnson made it a goal to hit better against LHP, to show he can be more than a platoon hitter.

2018, AA
97 PA
.163 / .250 / .239
1 HR
26.8% K%
5.2% BB%

2019, AA
43 PA
.297 / .422 / .649
4 HR
18.6% K%
13.9% BB%

Small sample, but so far so good

I am kind of looking forward to the competition next season when it comes to our 4ish OF spots since it will likely all be a fair amount of talent trying to get the spots on the roster. Zimmer, Allen, Naquin, Luplow, Mercado, Bauers, Johnson all vying for the spots. I think that will be a nice little competition

Would really love to get some feedback on whether or not he can play CF.

He's been there quite a bit, and given that they haven't moved him off there yet I could only imagine he's handling it well enough.

Makes his value go ^^^

Are you expecting to trade him? lol

I dont think we will at the end of the day, I think they plan on having him in RF in the future. CF really isn't a problem with the prospects we already have in the system. He is more CF at AA since we need him there via who we have on the roster.

If you can get cost controlled talent that's proven at the major league level, he's definitely expendable.

If only someone like Whit Merrifield wasn't the most untouchable player in baseball...

Cost is to high for the Indians otherwise we would have gotten Merrifield last season so he kind of is on that list at least for us... Check rumors last year, I wanted to trade a lot for him then and that was the time to do it...

That aside, personally, not going to disagree with the first statement you made, I feel they really do not want to trade him if they can help it. I feel he is on the short list of do not want to trade, but if the right trade comes around I am not saying they wouldn't trade, but to me he is a higher ranked prospect than how a lot of people have him ranked.

Plesac gave up 3 Runs over 7 innings with 9 SOs in Columbus's 14 run game over the Syracuse Mets! Everyone in the game got at least a hit! Fun game to watch if you like offense!
AA
Marabell has a 9 game hitting streak going,
Hentges has given up 2 runs over his last 3 starts (19 innings) though still way too many walks,
Sandlin had another good outing (5/16) and is expected to pitch tomorrow again.
A+
Robert Broom has 25 SOs in 17.1 innings with a 0.52 ERA
Oscar Gonzalez is hitting .365 with an OPS of .894
Steven Kwan is hitting .295 with an OBP% of .386, 19 BB to 18 SOs
Nolan Jones is hitting .281 with 29 BB to 33 SOs. He isnt hitting for power, but his walks are up and SOs are down
Juan Hillman's last two starts, 13.2 innings, 12 SOs and 1 BB. Hopefully he can keep that up.
A
Tyler Freeman is batting .312 with an OPS of .921. He has 16 BB to 12 SOs.
Will Benson in the last 6 games, 8-24, 2 HRs, 4 RBIs
Zach Draper and Manuel Alvarez have been pitching lights out this season, Draper has a 0.32 ERA in 28.1 innings and Alvarez has a 0.53 ERA in 17 innings. (Neither are considered future guys, just gotta give props to guys playing well)

Greg Allen is riding a 7 game hitting streak, going 11-30 with 4 Runs, 1 HR, 2 RBIs, 3 BBs and 5 SOs.

Looks like the everyday ABs are starting to help him out, though I wanna see a lot more walks from him. With his speed, it would be really good for him to be able to get on base with a high percentage.

Tyler Freeman should be on promotion watch.

Playing like a Top 50 prospect, without question.

He should be at Lynchburg for the second half of the season without a doubt, maybe even a few at bats at AA this season.

I think we need to keep Freeman, but what type of player do you think he could net us in a trade?

Nolan Jones hit his first homer of the year. Anyone know if it was an oppo shot?

Kyle Nelson (A+/AA) is up to 17.2 IP on the season without allowing an earned run.

He's also struck out 29 with only 3 walks in that time as well. With only one lefty on staff in Columbus, he might not be far off from a role with the big club should Perez or Olson falter.
