2019 NBA Draft

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
You think Sexton is going to be the better player?

In the first game he scores 20 points and shot 8-10. I can't say that is considered meh for a rookie.

What box score are you looking at? That's not what I see here: http://www.espn.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=401077234

I absolutely think Sexton is going to be the better player. I thought he was better after the draft, and he was dramatically better at summer league. One preseason game isn't enough for me to completely reverse my opinion.

Sorry. My bad lol

As far as Sexton, I expect a lot of mistakes as a rookie. His size will be an issue, at least early on I fear.

They just played the Celtics again yesterday and he had 23 points on 9-12 shooting, although he was 5-6 for 13 points in the 4th quarter.

Still, a much better game.

I've never been one to put any stock in preseason numbers though. Might as well be summer league.

Have you guys noticed the changes as far as officiating goes? that changes a lot for me as far as analysing current and future prospects. Aaaalot of ticky tack fouls and very little leeway as far as screens goes. They are calling moving screens very often.

If this holds to regular season, this puts good isolation scorers and creators on a much higher priority for me.

Why the sudden officiating change though?

Yeah I got that, that's the highlight clip @Sir'Dom Pointer initially posted. I'm just saying that, bigger picture, he hasn't really impressed since being drafted.

Of course what'll really change my opinion about him and other prospects is how they fare in their first actual NBA games. Obviously you can learn more from that than from a hundred college/summer league/preseason games.

Noticed Limoges subbed in Doumbouya for defense on the last possession of the half...might be the first time ever a 17 year old subbed in for defensive purposes, lol.

On offense, though, he's averaging a shade under 3 ppg on .24/.00/.40 shooting splits. That's far worse than I expected. How high can you justify drafting a guy who projects to be just a defensive specialist?

I don't trust the french...so I dunno lol.

Lol Mikal is the last guy to put up #s in a preseason setting. He looked fine in summer league and his defense has checked out. I really hate the Phoenix situation for him though. Wish he was on a playoff team.

Miles has been as expected for me. His shot off the dribble has still been inconsistent, but I still expect it to eventually come around. I cannot believe he fell all the way to 14th...I ended up having him 6th in my rankings lol. I don't think I saw anyone with him that high... I still wish the Cavs took him.

All of us 3 got off the bandwagon. For crying out loud, I got off the bandwagon so hard that I had numerous posts going into his weaknesses in great detail.

I think that freedom of movement thing will hurt him on the defensive end. His lateral quickness isn't that great and it will limit his defensive impact because he won't be able to use his wingspan to the same degree.

If the refs continue to enforce moving screens better, it might help him though. I had major doubts about his ability to defend when switched against bigger players. So if he could be the primary SG defender and not get switched to stronger SFs/PFs/Cs then his impact would be better.

Yeah I held on as much as I could, but thankfully dropped him down some lol. I still like him alot. Not many situations worse than PHX for him though lol. He needs to play with the best shot creators on your team. Instead he's going to be relying on Troy Daniels and TJ Warren to create shots for him.

I just feel like Brunson and Divicenzo were the real engine of the team(as far as wings/playmaker go) and Mikal greatly benefitted from the system much more than the rest of them. He was the definition of a system player.

Yeah I agree, but I also still think there's lots of value in those players when put in the right situation. He really kind of split my rankings of the lottery between guys I trust vs guys I didn't trust. They all have their weaknesses, but where I had him was basically the dividing point between the players that I was comfortable with them overcoming the weaknesses if that makes sense. Half the reason I still had him top 10 was because I didn't like guys like Bagley, Porter, etc lol

Speaking of Brunson, he was awful in SL. Haven't watched any of their preseason but the numbers are better. And DiVincenzo was one of the most overdrafted players this year imo. I think Jon Horst only watches March Madness every year and makes his pick off that.

Brunson looked much better in Preseason and DiVicenzo perhaps was overdrafted, but he will find a good role. He does it all on the court.

What I said has no bearing on what they will become as far as NBA players. Just that both of them were the engine of that Villanova team.

I swapped Mikal with Miles and I really do think he can be real good. His ability to finish with both of his hands and his ability and willigness to play big in the post almost secures it for me. Ambidextrous players succeed..it's a fact lol.

What do you think of Shai Gilgeous Alexander so far?

And Sexton?
