2019 NBA Draft

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Did anyone get a height, wingspan on Grant Williams?

I'll just say that his ball handling for a guy his size is elite. His ball handling looks better than Cedis now at 19. He handles the ball like a guard and I don't know any guys his size that do and pretty much suck.

Also it would be hard for me to believe his shooting never comes around in a world where Brook Lopez is splashing 3s.

Anyone who's shot isn't totally broken like MKG or Simmons can shoot in this league

I'll never dispute that his shot doesn't look good and that he can handle the ball. Can he become a good 3pt shooter? Yeah, I'd say that's probably likely.

But when you watch him drive to the rim and he goes right into the chest of the guy defending the rim, and he does this multiple times a game, it's so disheartening. Either he lacks change of direction ability or he just lacks the ability to get to the rim with his technique.

26 points, 15 boards, and 4 blocks for Goga today against a very good Partizan squad. It'll be overshadowed by combine stuff for now, but he keeps adding to his already impressive resume. The difference in production between him and Doumbouya is staggering.

Should we take him? He will be there at 5. If he is really better than Jokic, Nurkic, and the rest of the Euros at the same age, we should probably take him.

I tend to agree...we just saw last night what a huge impact a 3&D center like Lopez can make in the playoffs. You'd think Goga at least gives you that. Not many centers have clear 3-point shooting and shot blocking ability at such a young age, and the ones that do usually end up being really good.

Hes pretty smooth, and I get the comparison to Rodney Hood, but Rodney is jerkier and not nearly as good a ball handler. Rodney is clumsier

It's the comparative passivity of his game that reminds me personally of Hood. Doesn't seem to like contact, weird motor, etc..

Got pick 26 right now,,,I'm hoping we can add JR's contract to 26 and get up around 13-17 and hope he's there.
I just think Jaxson Hayes is the first center taken,,then I almost think Goga comes off second ahead of Bol. I guess it depends on what the teams think but with Bol's stick like figure and foot issues I don't see how Goga doesn't go ahead of Bol.
I had read somewhere that Goga was shooting up draft boards the more scouts see him.

I don't see how he lasts that long. I could see him and Jaxson going right after the other.

Not to put too much stock in one mock, but SI moved him up to #10 in their post-lottery update. Wouldn't be surprised if others follow suit in the coming weeks.

EDIT:

In fact, they have Jaxson at 9 and Goga at 10 :chuckle:

Yep, there are hardly any of these. Embiid? Sorta not a great 3 pt shooter and not really willing. Goga seems to out up more attempts than anyone I can think of. Kat is awesome, but not a defensive presence. Porzingus?

Aren't you the one that says a center sucks if he can't hit a 3, pass, and defend? He needs to do 2 at a high level to be worth more than your average stiff?

That's too high of a bar to say that a center sucks if he can't do those things, but yeah, I'd only be seriously interested in guys who have potential to do at least 2 of 3.

That's the kind of thing that makes a potential trade of 5/26 for Atlanta's 8/10 so intriguing.

Next draft is supposed to be loaded with guards (including combo guards who would fit well with Sexton), so I'd be thrilled to grab two interesting bigs in this draft. Hayes, Bitadze, Bol, Claxton, Williams, Washington, Clarke...you can imagine a lot of wild combinations.
